The Sewers is the ninth hero level in the Nintendo DS version of LEGO Batman: The Videogame. It is the fourth hero level of Power-Crazed Penguin.

Story

Entering the sewers, the dynamic duo notice the Penguin and Killer Croc escaping. Seeing them escape, the duo chase them through a long sewer. They finally enter an elevator and activate it to reach Arkham Asylum. Upon arriving at Arkham, they notice that the villain duo arrived first and freed Catwoman from her cell. However, Killer Croc decided to stay, so the dynamic duo defeats him in a battle. Upon defeating him, he tells them that the Penguin's secret base is in a cave in the Arctic World, located in the Gotham Zoo.

Walkthrough

You start in the sewers of Gotham. Use a Hero Panel next to you to build a suit swapper. Use it with Robin to put on the Bio Suit. With the Bio Suit, walk on the acid on the right and build a platform for Batman. Jump to the ledge on the right and press a wall button in the background to destroy a machine. Then, enter a hatch with Robin and use another Hero Panel to build a box. Push it to the right until it falls and is destroyed, allowing you to build another suit swapper. Use that suit swapper with Batman to put on the Demolition Suit. Using the Demolition Suit, place a detonator near two red boxes and detonate it to destroy the boxes and build a grapple point. Use it with Batman to reach the ledge above and destroy another red box to build another wall button. Press it to build a ladder for Robin. Go right on the ledge and two Penguin Goons will attack you. Defeat them and use Robin to cross three toxic gases. Next, build a lever and pull it to reveal a box to the left of the toxic gases. Destroy it with Batman to build a button and step on it to turn off the toxic gases. Continue to the right and have both characters pull two levers to open the door that will take you to the next area.

In the next area, you will need to turn two red lights green. To make the left red light turn green, go left and use Batman to destroy a red box and build a handle. Pull it to drain the poisonous water level. Drop into the pit of poisonous water, build a platform in the middle, then build a ladder to return to the ledge on the right. Pull the handle again to raise the level of the poisonous water again, now with the platform you built. Use the platform to reach the other side and destroy a red box with Batman to build a hatch. Enter it with Robin, build a wall button and press it to drain the next level of poisonous water. Drop into the pit and destroy a small red box with Batman to build a button. Step on it to build a grapple point that will allow Batman to reach the ledge on the left. Before you reach that ledge, build a ladder to the right so Batman can get back to the ledge on the right. Continue left on the left ledge and a Penguin Bodyguard will notice you. Defeat him and destroy some red and black boards with Batman to enter a glass room. In that room, destroy a gray box on the right to build a button, but don't step on it yet. Instead, destroy two pipes blocking a trapdoor on the left. Then, step on the button to build a lever and pull it to make the left red light turn green. Go back to the right until you reach the central ledge. To make the right red light turn green, go right and walk on an acid with Robin. Then use the Birdarang to hit two glowing red targets and turn them green. This will allow you to build a lever. Pull it to make the right red light turn green. With both red lights on green, the center door will open, but a Penguin Goon will come out. Return to the central ledge, defeat the Penguin Goon, and go through the newly opened door to reach the next area.

In the next area, jump onto a floating platform to reach the other side. On the other side, destroy a gray box on the right to build a ladder. Climb it, go left and destroy a white box to build a lever. Pull it to build a ladder for the second character. With both characters on the ledge above, use Batman to destroy a red box on the right and build a glowing red target. Hit it with Batman's Batarang or Robin's Birdarang to build a hatch. Enter it with Robin and step on a button to open a gate for Batman. Destroy a red box with Batman to build a lever and pull it to open a lid and reveal a red trapdoor. Destroy that red trapdoor with a detonator and go down the ladder. Build a handle on top of an acid and pull it with Robin to stop more poisonous water from escaping to the right. This will allow you to build another ladder. Climb up it and have both characters pull two levers to open the door that will take you to the next area.

In the next area, use Batman to destroy a red door on the right. Go to the right of the three platforms that form a bridge (do not pull the lever on the left or it will lower the platforms). On the ledge on the right side, use a Hero Panel to build a pole point. Use it with Robin to swing to the platform above. On that platform, use the Birdarang to hit two glowing red targets and build a grapple point to the right. Use it with Batman to reach the platform and destroy a red box to build a hatch. Enter it with Robin and quickly press three square buttons to build another grapple point for Batman. With both characters on the highest ledge, have them both pull two levers to activate an elevator and reach the final area.

In the final area, you will face Killer Croc in a boss fight. Hit him until remove three hearts, at which point he will jump to the ledge above and use his super strength to destroy the left door, where two Two-Face Goons will appear. Defeat them to return Killer Croc to the lower floor. Take away two more hearts from him and he will return to the ledge above, this time to destroy the middle door. Two Penguin Goons will come out of that door. Defeat them and take two more hearts from Killer Croc. Killer Croc will jump to the ledge above once again and destroy the door on the right, where two Joker Goons will emerge. Defeat them and Killer Croc will return to the lower floor once again. Take away his last three hearts to finish the level.

Collectables

All collectibles in the level can only be obtained in Free Play.

• Minikit Canisters
  1. Find three Riddler tokens throughout the level to get this minikit:
     1. At the beginning of the level, you will see a silver door in the middle of the acid. Use the Silver Key on it (make sure you use an immune to toxins character) to reveal a small red box on the left. Destroy it with an explosive character to reveal this Riddler token.
     2. In the center of the right ledge of the first area, you'll find a pair of golden handles. Pull them with a character with super strength to destroy a wall and reveal this Riddler token.
     3. In the final area, use the Blue Key on a blue door on the right to open a door to a special area. In that special area, destroy a white box to the left of the foreground to reveal this Riddler token.
  2. Inside the glass room on the far left of the second area, use a villain character on a Villain Panel to build a pole point outside the room. Use an acrobat character on it to swing to the ledge above. On that ledge, use a character with super strength to push a box with golden handles to the left. This will cause one of the two red lights on the front to turn green. To make the second red light turn green, use an immune to toxins character to build an elevator on top of an acid on the right. With both red lights turning green, you can build a lever. Pull it to activate the elevator. Use the elevator to reach the high ledge and go to the platform in the foreground. Jump across the next two platforms until you reach the far right platform, but watch out for the fumes. When you reach that far platform, use the Gold Key on a gold door to reveal a small red box. Destroy it with an explosive character to reveal this minikit.
  3. When you reach the other side of the left side of the third area, use a character with super strength to pull a pair of golden handles and destroy a wall. Then use an explosive character to destroy some red and black boards and grab this minikit.
  4. On the left side of the high ledge in the third area, use the Blue Key on a blue door to open a door next to it and reveal this minikit.
  5. On the left ledge of the fourth area, use the Gold Key on a gold door to the left to reveal pieces in the acid below. A ladder will also be raised so you can get back to the ledge if you fall. Walk on the acid with an immune to toxins character and use the revealed pieces to build a platform. Stand on that platform and use a small character to enter a hatch and reach a room blocked with lasers, where you will find this minikit in the middle.

• Gotham Docks (Villain) Red Power Brick
  • Note: This Red Power Brick can also be obtained on the villain side of this level. In the room where you find the fifth minikit in the fourth area, you will find a red and black generator. Destroy it with an explosive character to disable the lasers and build a pair of golden handles. Pull the golden handles with a character with super strength to destroy a wall and reveal this Red Power Brick.

• Tim Drake Joker Card
  • From the left side of the lower acid in the fourth area, go right through a passage to reach the right side of the acid. On that side, jump onto the ledge and use the Gold Key on a gold door to open a gate to the right and grab this Joker Card.

Unlockables

After completing the level, you unlock Killer Croc. In the Batcave you will be able to continue to Arctic World. After collecting the Red Power Brick, you can purchase Gotham Docks (Villain).

Trivia

• This is the only hero level in the Nintendo DS version of LEGO Batman: The Videogame where the player can fight Two-Face Goons outside of The Bullion Dollar Riddle and Joker Goons outside of The Joker's Last Laugh.
  • Although chronologically, Batman and Robin confront Joker's Group after defeating Penguin's Group, Joker Goons appear in this level, which takes place before the events of The Joker's Last Laugh.
