Star Wars: Episode I — The Phantom Menace is the first episode in the Game Boy Advance version of LEGO Star Wars: The Video Game.

Story

A Republic Cruiser lands on the Trade Federation Control Ship. Two Jedi, Obi-Wan Kenobi and Qui-Gon Jinn exit from the ship and are greeted by TC-14. Meanwhile, the ship explodes and Obi-Wan feels it. He, along with Qui-Gon (not seen on screen) went to an MTT Cruiser to escape.

When they land on Naboo, they encounter a Gungan named Jar Jar Binks who takes them to the underwater city of Otoh Gunga, where the Gungan leader Boss Nass allows them to use the Gungan Bongo.

When they reach Theed, Battle Droids take Queen Amidala hostage. Qui-Gon and Jar Jar rescue her and then head to Theed Hangar. There they free five Royal Guards and head to Tatooine in a Royal Starship.

Arriving on Tatooine, Qui-Gon enters Watto's shop, unaware that a Sith named Darth Maul is after him. Upon entering, a young boy named Anakin Skywalker tells Qui-Gon that his astromech droid, R2-D2, is surrounded by Tusken Raiders. Qui-Gon saves R2-D2 from the surrounding Tusken Raiders and goes to talk to Watto. Qui-Gon buys a new hyperdrive and then leaves the shop to return to the Royal Starship to Naboo. But when he heads towards the Royal Starship, he meets Obi-Wan and tells him that Darth Maul is chasing them. The two Jedi, along with R2-D2 and Anakin, fortunately escape.

Upon returning to Naboo, Jar Jar encounters a large droid invasion and the Battle of Naboo begins. Jar Jar attempts to flee from the droids, while Anakin boards a Naboo Starfighter and flies directly toward the Control Ship. After destroying thirty droids, many surround Jar Jar, but just then, Anakin destroys the Control Ship, causing the droids to disable. The Gungans celebrate the victory, while Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon confront Darth Maul. During the duel, Qui-Gon ends up being stabbed by Darth Maul, while Obi-Wan cuts the Sith in half as revenge for his fallen master.

Differences from the film

• Nute Gunray and Rune Haako are absent from the game.
• Darth Sidious/Palpatine does not appear until Episode III.
• The sando aqua monster scene is omitted.
• Jar Jar meets Qui-Gon while running from some Trade Federation forces. In the film, Jar Jar meets him while running from animals.
  • Obi-Wan is not seen meeting Jar Jar, but first appears swimming with him in the same level's outro cutscene.
• The blockade battle and droids ship repair scene after leaving Naboo is omitted.
• Qui-Gon fights Tusken Raiders on Tatooine in-game.
• Padmé remains in her Clawed outfit instead of her Queen outfit.
• The Boonta Eve Classic podrace is omitted.
• All Coruscant scenes are omitted.
  • The Jedi Council and its members do not appear in-game.
• The Naboo Space Battle is omitted.
• Qui-Gon's funeral is omitted.
• The parade scene is omitted.
• Super Battle Droids are present in-game. In the films, they don't appear until Episode II.
