The Joker's Return is the third and final hero episode in LEGO Batman: The Videogame.

Story

As Robin fixes the Batcopter in the Batcave, he calls for Alfred to bring a bomb, but Robin asks him to bring a bigger bomb, so Alfred brings another bomb and Robin doesn't accept it again. Meanwhile, Batman checks the Batcomputer for a purple cape, but upon receiving a distress signal, Batman looks through a satellite and discovers that the Joker and his goons have stolen items from ACE Chemicals. Batman hops on his Batwing and heads there. Robin gets on the Batcopter with an atomic bomb, but the bomb falls into the Batcave, although it does not explode, Alfred passes out. The heroes head to ACE Chemicals, where they find the Mad Hatter there. When they manage to defeat him in battle, Batman hits his hat to blind him. The heroes leave ACE Chemicals to see the Joker in his helicopter. The Mad Hatter is taken to Arkham Asylum.

While Batman and Robin are in their air vehicles, Batman sees on his scanner that Commissioner Gordon was imprisoned by the Joker and his girlfriend Harley Quinn. Batman seeing this, goes to Haly's Circus with Robin. When the heroes arrive to rescue Commissioner Gordon, they are forced to fight Harley Quinn. After they manage to defeat her, Batman goes to free Gordon while Robin distracts Harley Quinn. She then uses her hammer to knock Robin out, but he grabs the hammer and tries to chase after her. She then tried to eat Robin with a crocodile, but Batman throws a Batarang at her so that the crocodile lands on her, knocking her unconscious. When he freed Commissioner Gordon, the Joker arrives in his helicopter so he can hit them with his gun, but they survive being shot by the Joker and he leaves. The heroes put Harley Quinn in a Police Van.

The heroes return to their air vehicles, only to meet The Scarecrow in his biplane. He then throws an object at the Batwing, causing it to spin. Batman restores the Batwing to its original state and they chase after the Scarecrow. They finally defeat him in a battle. The Scarecrow loses control of his biplane and collides with the Joker in his helicopter. Both vehicles explode, causing Batman to wonder if the Joker is dead or not. The heroes leave thinking they have achieved their goal, but the two villains survive the explosion and use balloons to fall into a museum.

While the heroes are in their air vehicles, Batman receives a signal from Commissioner Gordon that the Joker freed his girlfriend Harley Quinn thanks to the help of Killer Moth. Seeing this, Batman goes with Robin to catch Killer Moth. They chase him until they reach an abandoned building, where he is waiting for them. They finally manage to defeat him in a battle. Robin shows him some bug spray if he doesn't show them the Joker's location. Killer Moth then shows them Gotham Cathedral, knowing that the Joker ended up there. The heroes take him to Arkham Asylum.

Batman and Robin go to Gotham Cathedral. There some thugs realize this and start fighting, but Batman looks through a window that the Joker is climbing. The thugs shoot the heroes until they run out of bullets. The heroes survive the gunfire and spring into action. When they open the windows of the cathedral, Harley Quinn shows up as a distraction. The heroes use water cannons to scare Harley Quinn. Finally they enter the cathedral and climb to the top. There Batman finds the machine that the Joker built, but Robin realizes that both Harley Quinn and the Joker are hiding in the cathedral bells. When they manage to get the villains out of the bells, the Joker calls in one of his goons to distract them with his rebuilt helicopter. The heroes manage to destroy the helicopter with the help of some water cannons, causing the platform to fall and Harley Quinn to pass out. The heroes confront the Joker, but when they manage to defeat him, he energizes one of the antennae, knocking the heroes unconscious. When they wake up, the Joker and his girlfriend Harley Quinn are about to give them one last little surprise, but Batman sees bats in bells on the ceiling. He uses his Batarang to hit the bells and release the bats, stinging the remaining villains. Commissioner Gordon and his army of Police Marksmen come to take them to Arkham Asylum.

With the Joker's Group imprisoned, the Mad Hatter has tea with a rabbit, the Scarecrow stands still with crows on his shoulders, Killer Moth plays with a light bulb, Harley Quinn kisses photos of the Joker, and the Joker points a gun with a "bang" sign and laughs. Batman and Robin take a spin in the skies over Gotham with their air vehicles, until Batman puts the Batwing in front of the moon.
