Star Wars: Episode V — The Empire Strikes Back is the second episode in the Game Boy Advance version of LEGO Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy.

Story[]

Three years after the events of Episode IV, a Wampa attacks Luke Skywalker and hangs him from the ceiling of an ice cave on Hoth. Luke summons his lightsaber, but then the Wampa dances and crashes due to the slippery ground. The Rebel Troopers prepared to fight AT-ATs. Luke hops into a Snowspeeder, immobilizes the AT-ATs and destroys them.

However, the Empire still wins, so Han Solo, Princess Leia and C-3PO have to escape from Echo Base. They fight many Snowtroopers and board the Millennium Falcon.

The Falcon navigates through an asteroid field while being pursued by TIE Fighters. Inside the Falcon, C-3PO makes repairs, while Han and Leia kiss. When 3PO arrives, they stop kissing.

On Dagobah, as Luke trains to become a Jedi, he kills an illusion of Darth Vader and receives a warning: if Luke fights Vader without emotional control, he will become Vader, seduced by the Dark Side. Meanwhile, in Cloud City, C-3PO enters a room, while Han goes to visit his old friend, Lando Calrissian. So it turns out that Lando is allied with Vader. Han then freezes in carbonite, so Lando changes his mind and decides to help the Rebels. The Rebels fight in Cloud City and escape on the Falcon.

Luke and R2-D2 arrive at Cloud City. Luke fights Darth Vader. At the end of the duel, Vader cuts off Luke's hand and reveals that he is his father. Luke lets go of what he is holding and falls through a tunnel and hangs beneath Cloud City. Later, he is rescued off-screen.

Differences from the film[]

  • All scenes before the ice cave are omitted.
  • The Wampa does not attack Luke when he summons his lightsaber, but instead dances and crashes into a wall off-screen.
  • All scenes between after the ice cave and before the Battle of Hoth are omitted.
  • There are no AT-STs during the Battle of Hoth in the game, unlike all the other versions, LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga and LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga.
  • In the film, there are five AT-ATs, but in the game there are only four.
  • Darth Vader never enters Echo Base.
  • The scene where the Empire selects bounty hunters for hire is omitted.
  • The Exogorth scene is omitted.
  • The Star Destroyer dump scene is omitted.
  • Inside the Millennium Falcon, Han is dressed in his normal clothes instead of his Hoth clothes.
  • The only scene on Dagobah is when Luke kills an illusion of Darth Vader. Also, Luke wears his Bespin outfit instead of Dagobah in this scene.
  • E-3PO is absent from the game. Instead, C-3PO enters the room that E-3PO points out alone and the scene where he is shot is omitted.
  • Similar to the scene inside the Falcon, Han incorrectly wears his normal outfit instead of Skiff when he freezes. This error was also in the 10123 Cloud City set.
  • Han kisses Leia before freezing.
  • The events of the Millennium Falcon crew take place before Luke's fight with Vader, not at the same time.
  • Luke doesn't let himself be dragged through a window.
  • The episode ends just as Luke jumps into the void, also omitting the final scenes of the film.
