The Battle of Pelennor Fields is the sixteenth level of LEGO The Lord of the Rings. It is the fourth level of The Return of the King.
Transcript[]
The Rohan War begins[]
- King Théoden: I have left instruction. The people are to follow your rule in my stead. Take up my seat in the Golden Hall. Long may you defend Edoras if the battle goes ill.
- [Éowyn gets frustrated and leaves]
- King Théoden: We must ride light and swift. It is a long road ahead. And man and beast must reach the end with the strength to fight.
- [Théoden climbs onto his white horse]
- King Théoden: Little Hobbits do not belong in war, Master Meriadoc. It's a three-day gallop to Minas Tirith, and none of my Riders can bear you as a burden. I will say no more.
- [Théoden leaves Merry, but Éowyn rides towards Merry and grabs him on a goat]
- Merry: Oh!
- Éowyn: Ride with me.
- Merry: My Lady!
- [The entire Rohirrim army marches towards Pelennor Fields]
Fight for the World's Ending[]
- [The Mordor Orcs come out to attack the fortress of Minas Tirith]
- Gandalf the White: Prepare for battle!
- [The Gondor Soldiers reach the top of the wall]
- Gandalf the White: To the wall! Defend the wall! Send these foul beasts into the abyss.
- [The Gondor Soldiers begin throw objects and animals at the Orcs with trebuchets]
- Gothmog: Stay where you are.
- [The Orcs are bringing heavy animals and Cave Trolls are bringing a battering ram]
- Gandalf the White: Aim for the Trolls! Kill the Trolls! Bring them down!
- [The Gondor Soldiers manage to kill the Trolls, but the Trolls manage to destroy the gate with the battering ram]
- Gandalf the White: You are soldiers of Gondor. No matter what comes through that gate, you will stand your ground.
- [A Mordor Orc arrives with an axe, but is then trampled by another Cave Troll. The Cave Troll attempts to eat the Gondor Soldiers, but is interrupted by Théoden's horn. The Rohirrim army arrives, while the Orcs prepare their spears]
- Éowyn: [She grabs Merry and passes him from a goat to her horse] Whatever happens, stay with me. I'll look after you.
- King Théoden: [He rides through the entire Rohirrim army with his horse] Ride now! Ride! Ride for ruin, and the world's ending!
- [A Rohirrim Soldier drops a flute and blows a horn]
- King Théoden: Death!
- [The Rohirrim army goes out to attack the Orcs]
Revenge for Théoden[]
- [A rat comes out of a backpack and scares a Mûmakil, which also scares Éowyn and Merry and they both fall to the ground. The Mûmakil nearly crushes Éowyn and Merry, but they both survive]
- King Théoden: Rally to me! To me!
- [Théoden notices the With-king coming riding a Black Wings. The Witch-king descends and strikes down Snowmane and Théoden. Snowmane lands on Théoden. Éowyn and Merry fight for revenge]
- Éowyn: I will kill you if you touch him!
- [Snowmane says Yes by turning his head]
- The Witch-king: Do not come between a Nazgûl and his prey.
Battle against the Witch-king[]
- [The Witch-king looks in front of Éowyn and Merry]
- The Witch-king: SHRIIIEEKK! [He tries to kill them with a Morgul chain, but the two dodge it]
The Last Moments of the Witch-king[]
- [When the Witch-king comes to grab Éowyn]
- The Witch-king: You fool. No man can kill me! Die now.
- [When the player gets to deliver the final blow to the Witch-king]
- Éowyn: [She takes off her helmet] I am no man!
Defeated Witch-king[]
- Éowyn: ARGH!
- [Éowyn stabs her blade into the Witch-king's face, causing him to faint and die]
The Soldiers of the Dead arrive[]
- [A Black Ship arrives at a port full of Orcs]
- Head Orc: Late as usual, pirate scum! There's knife-work here that needs doing. Come on, ya sea rats! Get off your ships!
- [Aragorn takes out a captain's hat and he, along with Gimli and Legolas, get off the Black Ship and take out their respective weapons. The Soldiers of the Dead join the battle of Pelennor Fields. Meanwhile, a Haradrim Mûmakil Rider blows a horn to call the other Mûmakils]
Battle against the Mûmakils[]
- [After making the first Mûmakil flee]
- Gimli: That still only counts as one!
Théoden's Death[]
- [The Soldiers of the Dead enter the fortress of Minas Tirith and kill all the Orcs inside. Meanwhile, Éowyn reacts to Théoden's final moments]
- King Théoden: My body is broken.
- [Éowyn grabs Théoden's body, while Merry grabs his legs]
- King Théoden: Éowyn...
- [Théoden dies. Éowyn weeps bitterly over his body. Merry throws Théoden's legs away, as Snowmane wakes up, only to fall asleep again. Meanwhile, Gandalf, Pippin, Aragorn, Gimli and Legolas gather]
- Gandalf the White: Frodo has passed beyond my sight.
- Aragorn: If Sauron had the Ring, we would know it.
- Gandalf the White: Because ten thousand Orcs now stand between Frodo and Mount Doom.
- Aragorn: He needs time, we can give him that.
- Gimli: How?
- Aragorn: Then we gather our full strength and march on the Black Gate.
- Gimli: Oh! [Cough]
- Legolas: A diversion.
- Gimli: Certainty of death. Small chance of success. What are we waiting for?
- [The level ends]
Story[]
Théoden arrives and leads his army against the Orcs. Despite initial success against the Orcs in the ensuing battle, they are decimated by Haradrim riding Oliphaunt and the Witch-king mortally wounds Théoden; However, his niece Éowyn kills the Witch-king with the help of Merry. Théoden dies in the arms of his niece. Then Aragorn arrives with his Army of the Dead, who defeat Sauron's forces. Their oath is fulfilled and the Dead are freed from their curse.
Walkthrough[]
Level Prelude[]
After completing the previous level, you will see a long cutscene. Once the scene ends, you will appear in Dunharrow with Théoden, Éowyn, and Merry. Sauron will still block Frodo and Sam's path, so you won't be able to do anything from Frodo and Sam's perspective. From the perspective of Théoden, Éowyn and Merry, follow the path of ghost studs and go towards the Rohirrim army to start this level. It shouldn't take long to get there, since you're riding a horse.
Level Walkthrough[]
You start in the Pelennor Fields during the battle. You will control Éowyn or Théoden on horseback and you will have to destroy as many objects in the environment and kill as many enemies as possible. You can throw your spear by pressing the attack button, which makes breaking objects in front of you much easier. You will move on to the next area in 1:05 minutes.
In the next area, you will have to face the Witch-king in his Black Wings. Avoid the beast's attacks while defeating Orcos and wait until it hits the ground with its head and is stunned. Approach it then and attack its neck three times. Repeat this process three times to make the Witch-king fall and fight you on foot. Fighting him on foot is similar to fighting the Cave Troll in The Mines of Moria level. Stand on a slab and dodge when you hear his scream. His mace will get stuck in the ground and you will have a chance to damage him. The second tile can be built with the bricks on the right side, while the third can be found after destroying the bushes on the left side of the arena. After disarming the boss, continue slashing him with your sword to begin the last sequence. When the Witch-king grabs Éowyn, switch to Merry and hit him on the back (stand in the designated spot). Then, switch to Éowyn and hit the Witch-king once more to move on to the next area.
In the next area, you will have to face two Mûmakils with Aragorn, Gimli and Legolas. They will have different ways to get on. On the Mûmakil with painted ears and a painted forehead, use Legolas to shoot two arrows into two holes in the animal's lower legs and then swing on them until you grab a rope on the left side. Climb it to reach the Mûmakil platform, defeat four enemies and grab the handhold on the left side to reach the upper platform. There, press the attack button several times to defeat the Mûmakil rider, then stand on a yellow circle and press the action button on it to make the Mûmakil flee. On the Mûmakil with the painted trunk, use Aragorn to destroy one of the two Morgul bracelets on its lower legs (only one needs to be destroyed). This will cause the Mûmakil to fall. Go to its injured leg and press the attack button several times until you make it run away. When you make these two Mûmakils flee, three more will come. For the Mûmakil with painted ears and a painted forehead, you will have to do the same as you did with the first Mûmakil, while for the Mûmakils with painted trunks, you will have to do the same as you did with the second Mûmakil. When you make these three Mûmakils flee, the level will end.

S means that the collectible can be obtained both in Story and in Free Play. F means the collectible can only be obtained in Free Play.
- Minikit Chests
- (S) During the first area, destroy three boxes to obtain this minikit. Be careful not to miss any of them.
- After starting the level, stay to the right immediately to destroy this box.
- When you see the horses of the Rohirrim army on the right side, still stay on the right side to destroy this box.
- When you see the seventh Mûmakil drop in the first area, stay to the right and you will destroy this box near it.
- (S) Between the sixth and seventh Mûmakils in the first area, stay to the right and you'll get this minikit when you go up a ramp.
- (S) Near the end of the first area, when you see the first Mûmakil fall, several objects will fall and one of them will have this minikit. (It is impossible to miss it.)
- (F) In the second area, you will see a farming spot on the left side. Since you have three characters left and only one of them can switch between others, switch to someone other than Éowyn or Merry. Switch to a gardener character and place a plant to get some green herbs. Then, after defeating Black Wings, you will see another farming spot on the right side. Place another plant there using a gardener character to get some red herbs. Then, combine them with green herbs to create a First-aid Kit. When you have the First-aid Kit, go to the upper right corner of the area and use a digger character to dig up some bricks. Then, use them to build an orange handle on a cart and pull it with a character with super strength to move the cart and lift a wounded Rohirrim Soldier. Give him the First-aid Kit so he can give you this minikit.
- (F) After using an archer character to hit two targets and dropping an Orc with the first treasure on the left side of the second area, you'll see some pieces in the lower left corner. Use them to build a lever. Next, have two characters stand on the lever platform to lift the brown horse and reveal this minikit.
- (F) In the second phase of the second area, you will see a cracked tile on the ground in the lower left corner. Switch to a character with axe, stand on it, jump on it and destroy it to get this minikit.
- (S) A little to the left of the Save Statue in the third area, you will find a Rohirrim Soldier trapped on the ground near a cracked tile. Use a character with axe to destroy the broken slab and rescue the Rohirrim Soldier to give you this minikit.
- (F) A little to the right of the third treasure, you will find loose dirt. Dig into it with a digger character to grab a material. Then, go to the lower part of the material to find a broken spear. Grab it and combine it with the material to create some crutches. Then, continue to the right a bit and use any variant of Sam on a plank to light a piece of wood and rescue a Rohirrim Soldier. Finally, give him the crutches so he can give you this minikit.
- (F) In the same place where you get the third treasure and the Blacksmith Design, use the Berserker's bombs to destroy the upper silver rock. This will reveal a pond. Use a character with a bucket to fill water, go right and use the water to put out half of the fire in two boxes. Repeat this same process to put out the second half of the fire and finally destroy the bottom box to get this minikit.
- (F) Use a character with a bucket to fill it with water, go left and use the water to put out a large fire and save a Rohirrim Soldier, who will give you this minikit.
- (S) During the first area, destroy three boxes to obtain this minikit. Be careful not to miss any of them.
- Treasures
- Glowing Shield
- (F) In the second area, you will see two targets on the left side. Switch to an archer character and shoot arrows at targets to drop an Orc with this treasure. Defeat the Orc to save this treasure in your inventory.
- Flower Hat
- (S) In the third area, go to the bottom left side to find this treasure near a fire. It is not necessary to put out the fire to get this treasure.
- Golden Carrot
- (F) A little to the right of the Save Statue in the third area, you'll find a farming spot between two silver rocks. Use a gardener character to place a plant and reveal this treasure.
- Glowing Shield
- Blacksmith Design
- Mithril Top Hat
- (F) In the place where you get the third treasure, you will see two silver rocks. Use the Berserker's bombs to destroy the one on the right and reveal this Blacksmith Design.

Unlockables[]
The minikit model in this level is a Battering Ram. After completing the level, you unlock King Théoden, Éowyn (Dernhelm) and Merry (Rohirrim Squire). In Minas Morgul you can buy The Witch-king. In Minas Tirith you can buy Denethor and a Citadel Guard. In The Black Gate you can buy a Gothmog. In Edoras you can buy a Corsair. In The Dead Marshes you can buy a Haradrim. You will also be able to continue to The Black Gate (although you must complete The Secret Stairs, and Cirith Ungol levels first). After collecting all three treasures, you will be able to take a Glowing Shield, a Flower Hat, and a Golden Carrot from your inventory. After collecting the Blacksmith Design, you will be able to craft a Mithril Top Hat.
