Temple of the Grail is the eighteenth and final level in the Nintendo DS version of LEGO Indiana Jones: The Original Adventures. It is the sixth and final level of The Last Crusade.
Story[]
Indiana, his father, Sallah and Brody head to the Canyon of the Crescent Moon, where the Holy Grail is hidden. Henry is shot in half at the hands of Donovan, and Marcus is left to care for him while Indiana and Sallah make their way through the Canyon's puzzle challenges, having been forced to find the Grail in order to fix Henry. Upon finding the Holy Grail, Indiana meets the Grail Knight, who has been guarding it and waiting for someone worthy to succeed him. Donovan attempts to choose the real Grail from a pile of false ones, but chooses a fake Grail and fails the Grail's final test, aging to death as a result. Indiana then takes the real Grail and uses it to rebuild Henry. Elsa attempts to steal the Grail from the temple, but in doing so she invokes a curse and falls into a deep abyss. Indiana, Henry, Sallah and Marcus leave the Grail behind and head off into the sunset.
Walkthrough[]
You start at the entrance to the temple. Go up the stairs in front and the door will open automatically. Go through it to reach the next area.
In the next area, run carefully past each of the three swinging blades. When you cross them, press a button on the wall to stop the blades, allowing the other character to cross safely. Then jump on each of the two spinning saws as they move. It can be a little difficult to jump at the right time since they move very fast. When you cross them, press another button on the wall to stop them. Continue to the right and you will come across a set of blades that are very fast and impossible to pass. To pass them, destroy a grey rock to reveal a glowing patch and use Sallah on it to dig up some pieces. Use the pieces you dug up to build a third button on the wall. Press it to raise the blades so you can pass safely. Further to the right, build a brown pad and use Indy's whip on it to pull a lever on the other side of the next spinning saws. This will stop the spinning saws so you can continue. At the two pairs of spinning saws, stand facing the set that is furthest from the wall. Wait for the saws to get closer and when they move away, run after them, following the line of studs. When the saws closest to the wall pass you, detour to the other rail, where those saws were, and continue following the studs to the other side of the trap. When you manage to cross the saws, press a fourth button on the wall to stop them. Next, use Sallah to dig up a large grey button and have both characters step on it to open the door that will take you to the next area.
In the next area, there will be flame barriers blocking your path. Build a brown pad and use Indy's whip on it to pull a box with handles along the chessboard tiles towards you. Use it to cross the first flame barrier. Then pull and push it all the way to the right and use it to cross the second flame barrier. Press a wall button to turn off the two flame barriers and go right to reach the next area.
In the next area, you'll see a series of symbols carved high up on the far wall. To cross the deep pit, jump on the separating tiles and make sure to step only on the symbols shown on the sign: U, +, ◇, O. These tiles are safe. When you reach the other side, cross the opening to reach the next area.
In the next area, move carefully along the narrow ledge, passing over the moving blocks as they retract. After crossing the moving blocks, go to the tunnel on the right to reach the next area.
In the next area, approach the front door and it will slam shut and part of the ceiling will collapse, breaking the pile of rocks on the left. Use the revealed pieces to build a box. Push it along the checkerboard floor until it is positioned under the door. Then, walk forward to slam the door shut on the box, destroying it and revealing other pieces. Use them to build a brown pad, stand on it with Indy and use his whip to grab a carved block and pull it under the door. The carved block will stop the door, allowing you to reach the final area.
In the final area, you will need to grab three blue bricks and place them on a blue pad in the foreground. You will find the first blue brick near the starting point. Grab it and place it on the blue pad. Then, go to the background and destroy a brown rock to reveal the second blue brick. Grab it too and place it on the blue pad. To find the third blue brick, use Indy's whip on a brown pad to knock down a stone column and create a bridge so you can cross the chasm on the right. On the ledge to the right, use Sallah to dig up this blue brick, grab it, and place it on the blue pad. By placing the three blue bricks on the blue pad, you will build a platform. As you step on it, it continues to build itself, forming a bridge across the chasm to the tunnel on the right. Go through the tunnel to finish the level.
Collectables[]
S means that the collectible can be obtained both in Story and in Free Play. F means the collectible can only be obtained in Free Play.
- Artifact Treasures
- (S) In the first area, blow on the microphone to extinguish two torches on either side of the stairs to reveal this artifact in the center.
- (F) Find three maps throughout the level to get this artifact:
- In the special area with the Red Power Brick, destroy a grey rock on the left to reveal this map.
- In the sixth area, destroy a grey rock in the lower right corner to reveal this map.
- In the special area with the eighth artifact, destroy a grey rock in the lower right corner to reveal this map.
- (S) In the third area, move the box with handles until it is under the niche with this artifact. Then use it to reach the niche with this artifact.
- (F) On the right side of the third area, use a BOTCS character on a BOTCS access panel to open a door to another special area. In that special area, you will have to place three blue bricks on a blue pad. The first blue brick is inside a brown rock in the center. Destroy the rock to reveal the brick, grab it and place it on the blue pad. The other two blue bricks are on two high ledges on either side. Build a hatch and enter it with a small character to reach the right ledge, where you will find the second blue brick. Grab it and place it on the blue pad. Enter the hatch again and jump onto a hanging rope to jump to the left ledge, where you will find the third blue brick. Grab it too and place it on the blue pad. By placing the three blue bricks, you will repair the bell. The bell will rise upwards and this artifact will appear.
- (S) After crossing the moving blocks in the fifth area, climb up to the ledge in the background and then jump over the moving blocks on the left to reach this artifact.
- (F) On the right side of the fifth area, use a Thuggee character on a Thuggee access panel to open a door to a third special area. There, follow another narrow ledge past another set of moving blocks. When you cross the moving blocks, build a brown pad and use a character with whip on it to reach the ledge with this artifact.
- (F) On the ledge with the previous artifact, stand on the edge facing left. Wait for the nearest block to descend and then jump towards it. Carefully jump over the moving blocks to reach this artifact on a platform above the entrance.
- (F) On the right side of the sixth area, use a digger character to dig up some red pieces. Use them to build a target and use a character with gun to hit it and turn it green. This will knock down a column and make a hole in the wall. Go through the hole to reach a fourth special area. In that special area, destroy a grey rock on the right to build a brown pad. Stand on it and use a character with whip to knock down the third coffin in the background and find this artifact. The other three coffins simply reveal studs.
- (S) In the final area, destroy a grey rock in the background to build a brown pad. Stand on it and use a character with whip to reach the high ledge. On that high ledge, cross a tunnel to reach one more special area. There, pull two levers to lower two hanging ropes. Climb up the long rope on the left and jump across the next two ropes to reach the niche with this artifact.
- (S) In the final area, approach the camera and destroy a brown rock to reveal this artifact.
- Invincibility Red Power Brick
- (F) After crossing the third trap in the second area, build a school access panel and use a character with book on it to open a door to a special area. In that special area, build a crank mechanism and look at the carved panels on the wall. Turn the crank to point a sword on the pedestal towards the coffins with the same carvings as the wall panels: castle, horse, skull. By doing this, this Red Power Brick will appear on the stone platform in front.
