Story[]

Spider-Man helped fight against the villains employed by Doctor Doom to find Cosmic Bricks to build his "Doom Ray of Doom". First, he helped Iron Man and Hulk defeat Sandman at Grand Central Station, who held the place hostage for Cosmic Bricks.[1] Later, he helped Captain America and Mr. Fantastic defeat Doctor Octopus, who stole a Cosmic Brick from the Baxter Building.[2] After they defeated Doctor Octopus, Green Goblin stole the brick from him and flew to Oscorp, so Spider-Man went with Hawkeye and Black Widow to follow him; however, were ultimately unsuccessful.[3] He later chased after Doctor Doom with Thor and Iron Man aboard Doom's Tanker, which was holding a S.H.I.E.L.D. Submarine. Doom steals the submarine, and the three go after him underwater while Jean Grey protects them with a force field. They catch up to Doom and board the submarine, but Magneto throws it onto Liberty Island.[4] Later, they go to Asteroid M and defeat Magneto.[5] Spider-Man then helps defeat Doctor Doom with Captain America, Storm, and Thing. After he's defeated, Loki uses the Doom Ray to mind control Galactus, who destroys Asteroid M, knocking the heroes back to Earth.[6] Spider-Man then helps the heroes and the villains defend Earth from Galactus.[7][8]

Spider-Man fought Howard the Duck and Vulture with Mr. Fantastic at Marvel Comics HQ,[9] Electro and Shocker with Iron Man and Captain America at the bank,[10] Kingpin, Elektra, and Bullseye at Fisk Tower,[11] and Lizard with Thing at the Reptile House in Central Park.[12][8]

Spider-Man teamed up with Ms. Marvel and White Tiger to fight some escaped Raft inmates on the Brooklyn Bridge. After they defeat all the criminals, Kang the Conqueror attacks Manhattan, and teleports the city along with Spider-Man into Chronopolis, his world built up of locations from across time and space.[13] Spider-Man went to Wakanda where him, Black Panther, She-Hulk and Ms. Marvel confront Klaw, who is gathering vibranium. Klaw escapes through a portal to Hydra Empire, and Spider-Man, Black Panther, and Ms. Marvel follow him.[14] Later, Spider-Man goes around Chronopolis with other heroes to find fragments of the Nexus of All Realities.[15][16][17][18] After all the fragments are gathered, the heroes build a device which brings Knowhere into Chronopolis.[19] On Knowhere, Spider-Man, Star-Lord, and Iron Man fire an electromagnetic pulse which takes town the shield surrounding Kang's Citadel. The three then go onto the Damocles (Kang's ship) to intercept. While they're on board, Kang purposefully plummets the ship into the ground. The heroes manage to escape before it crashes.[20][21]

Origin[]

As a result of a radioactive spider bite, high school student Peter Parker developed powers and special abilities similar to that of a spider. After Peter's selfishness indirectly resulted in the death of his beloved Uncle Ben, Peter decided to live up to the motto that "With great power comes great responsibility," and thus became the superhero known as Spider-Man.

Source Material[]

Spider-Man first appeared in Amazing Fantasy #15. Here, Spider-Man's origin story is told. Peter Parker was a hard-working high school student but was not popular among his classmates. One day, he is bitten by a radioactive spider, which gave him spider-powers. With his new powers, Peter becomes Spider-Man, and gains fame. However, when Spider-Man is asked to stop a thief, due to his own selfishness, he decides not to. Later, Peter finds out that his Uncle Ben was murdered, and tracks him down as Spider-Man, and finds out that it was the same criminal he refused to stop earlier. Thus, Peter learns that "With great power there must also come-- great responsibility".
