Soccer Mania (also known as Football Mania) is a LEGO-themed sports game released in 2002 by LEGO Interactive with EA. It's also the first LEGO game not to have the brand name in its title. It features characters from the Western, Castle, Adventurers, and Arctic LEGO themes.
The game is a simplified version of the sport with no fouls, throw ins or offsides.
Story[]
The game's story mode features the player's team which can be changed as the game progresses, at first the player can only pick from a regular Lego team, a Castle team and a Western team, but unlocks the other teams from each match. At the start of the game is a news broadcast of the player being a qualifier for the finals and just needs to win six more matches.
After doing so, another news broadcast plays of Freddy Fit at the soccer trophy ceremony. The mayor was about to award the player with a trophy when The Brickster shows up to steal the trophy for himself. As he escapes he leaves behind a wrench which leads the player to a seventh match at a construction site.
The wrench is magic and can create any getaway vehicles, the player is then told to go to Boulder Cliff Canyon, as the chief of there could help track down The Brickster and reclaim the trophy, the player is then given a feather and sets off. After winning against the chief's team, his totem pole opens a portal to the Knight's Kingdom, only for the Brickster to escape once again through another portal. The player can only follow through after beating Cedric The Bull at a soccer match.
It's then off to the Arctic where the player faces off against a mechanic's team, only for The Brickster to sabotage all their vehicles while the match was going on. The player then lends the magic wrench obtained earlier to the Arctic team, allowing them to take a vehicle to chase the criminal to Adventurer's Island. The player is blocked off by the Adventurer's villains lead by Sam Sinister but is able to maneuver past them to the sea, only to be captured by Captain Redbeard and his team. If the player defeats his skeleton team, he will offer them his treasure map.
Said map shows off the location of The Brickster's hideout, unfortunately The Brickster arrives there first and takes a spaceship up to Mars. The player is then off to the Lego Launch Pad in order to make chase, but first a match against the Space Technicians. The team gives the player a tracker to find parts of their own spaceship in order for it to be rebuilt to chase after The Brickster. After six more matches, the player has finally built their spacecraft and can make chase.
During their flight, the ship runs out of fuel and the player must defeat the team onboard a space station to refuel. Finally the player is able to catch up to The Brickster, however he challenges the player to beat a team of Martians the moment they arrive. Afterwards the Brickster Bots will face off against the player, only for their master to escape once again with the cup, leading to one final confrontation against The Brickster and his team of the greatest soccer players ever. The player emerges victorious and regains the trophy, as well as keeping The Brickster locked up in the ship's cargo hold, only to show one more scene of him supposedly escaping once again.

Version Differences[]
Gameboy Advance[]
- The cutscenes don't feature voice acting
- The player cannot customize their team in the beginning until they defeat three teams first
- Scoring a goal doesn't start a victory cutscene
- The player must only defeat five teams to qualify for the finals and obtain the spaceship parts instead of six
- After The Brickster steals the Lego Cup, the player can defeat the first five opponent teams in any order they wish. The same applies to the spaceship part finding matches after defeating Captain Redbeard.
- The final match against The Brickster has him with his Brickster Bots, instead of him being a separate team from the bots
Trivia[]
- This is the only non Lego Island game which has The Brickster as the main villain
- While Sam Sinister makes a cameo in one of the cutscenes, he's not a member of the Explorer's Villains team.
- Originally Data Design Interactive, the team behind Rock Raiders, was planning to make a soccer game, however that was scrapped and Soccer Mania was created by Silicon Dreams instead.
