Pankot Palace is the ninth level in the Nintendo DS version of LEGO Indiana Jones: The Original Adventures. It is the third level of The Temple of Doom.

Story

The trio travel on elephants through a vast jungle and finally reach the Pankot Palace. While infiltrating it, Indiana and his friends are attacked by Thuggee Guards and decide to investigate. Indiana, Willie and Short-Round find a secret passage leading down. They overcome a spike trap and reach a lava gallery.

Walkthrough

You start at the entrance to Pankot Palace. Follow the path leading to the palace to move on to the next area.

In the next area, you will be attacked by three Thuggee Guards. Defeat them and go right, where you will find three more Thuggees. Defeat them too and you will have to place three blue bricks on a blue pad. The first blue brick is to the right of the central elephant cage. Grab it and place it on the blue pad. The second blue brick is in the back right corner. Grab it too and place it on the blue pad. To find the third blue brick, go to the front right corner and build a hatch. Enter it with Short-Round to reach the roof above, where you will find this blue brick. Grab it, jump down and place it on the blue pad. By placing the three blue bricks, you will build a lever. Pull it to open the door to the next area.

In the next area, you'll need to grab three blue bricks again and place them on another blue pad. The first blue brick is inside a box at the beginning of the area. Destroy the box to reveal this blue brick, grab it and place it on the blue pad. The second blue brick is inside the central fountain faucet. Climb onto the fountain and destroy the faucet to reveal the second blue brick. Grab it too and place it on the blue pad. The third blue brick is on the far left of the balcony. As you climb the stairs to the balcony, a Thuggee will emerge from the alcove below. Defeat him, grab the blue brick and place it on the blue pad. By placing the three blue bricks on the blue pad, you will build a large golden button. Have both characters step on it to open the door to the next area.

In the next area, you will be attacked by a group of three Thuggees. Defeat them and a pair of Thuggees will come from the alcove on the left. Defeat them as well and another pair of Thuggees will come from the alcove on the right. Defeat this last pair and the door on the right will open. Go through it to reach the next area.

In the next area, build a hatch to the right and use Short-Round to enter it and reach the balcony above. There, push an elephant statue down to destroy it and build a platform. Push it along the chessboard pieces to the right and use it to reach the ledge above. Upon reaching the ledge, head up the stairs in front and follow the path to the entrance on the left to reach the next area.

In the next area, simply go out the door at the back right to reach the next area.

In the next area, stand on a dark blue pad and use Willie on it to slide to the balcony on the right. There, build a bridge for the second player and enter a hatch with Short-Round to reach the next balcony. Build another bridge for the second player and destroy a potted plant to build a button. Step on two buttons to open the door to the next area.

In the next area, you will be attacked by three Thuggees. Defeat them and build two boxes. Then, push them into the alcoves to open the door to the final area.

In the final area, go right and the entrance and exit will close and the spiked ceiling will start to descend. There are four spiked panels, but only three of them will fall at a time. The yellow light on the wall will show which section is safe. So whenever the spikes fall, stand in front of the yellow light to avoid getting crushed. When the spikes hit the ground, they will destroy the boxes underneath them. The box on the far right hides a blue pad where you will have to place three blue bricks. Just before the spiked panels start to rise again, jump on one of them and climb up. Jump to the small platform with the first blue brick. Grab it, jump down and place the blue brick on the blue pad. The other blue bricks are inside the other boxes. The second one is in the box slightly to the left, while the third one is in the box on the far left. When the spikes come down, they will break these boxes and reveal the bricks. Grab them and place them on the blue pad. By placing the three blue bricks, you will build a lever. Pull it to open both doors and deactivate the spiked panels. Go through the right door to finish the level.

Collectables

S means that the collectible can be obtained both in Story and in Free Play. F means the collectible can only be obtained in Free Play.

• Artifact Treasures
  1. (S) At the beginning of the level, go to the zone on the left. There, build a box to reach the windowsill and destroy the left window to find this artifact.
  2. (S) Find three maps throughout the level to get this artifact:
     1. In the first area, destroy one of the three brown bushes to the right of the palace entrance to reveal this map.
     2. On the right side of the fifth area, destroy the flower pot a little to the south to reveal this map.
     3. In the eighth area, destroy a flower pot to the left of the bed to reveal this map.
  3. (F) In the second area, destroy an urn near the second blue brick to reveal a red pad. Stand on it with a character with monkey and press the A button to transform into a monkey. Then, go to the left side, climb some green vines and quickly step on eight red buttons to turn them green. By making all the red buttons turn green, the doors near the red pad will open. Stand on the red pad again and press the A button to transform back into a human. Then, use a character with bottles to throw a bottle into a lit brazier and destroy the grey rocks next to it to reveal this artifact.
  4. (F) In the third area, use a Thuggee character on a Thuggee access panel to open the door to a special area. In that special area, go up the stairs and cross the tiles above the fire pit following the red snake coils until you reach this artifact. The other tiles will collapse beneath you if you step on them.
  5. (F) In the third area, go up the stairs leading to the balcony above and use a character with book on a school access panel to open the door to another special area. There, step on a button on the ground to activate a set of moving platforms above. Carefully navigate the platforms to reach the top of the area, where you'll find this artifact.
  6. (F) In the special area with the previous artifact, destroy a box on the right to reveal a wooden torch. Grab it and walk over to one of the lit braziers in front to light it. Next, go to the top where you found the previous artifact and use the wooden torch to light two standing torches. After lighting them, jump off the ledge and light the four standing torches surrounding the central platform to reveal this artifact.
  7. (S) In the fourth area, destroy all the plates on the banquet table (recommended with a character with whip) to open the door in front. There, you will need to place three blue bricks on a blue pad. The first blue brick is inside a box in the south corner. Destroy the box to reveal the brick, grab it and place it on the blue pad. The second blue brick can be found inside another box on the right. Destroy the box to reveal this brick, grab it and place it on the blue pad. The third blue brick is inside an elephant statue on the left. Destroy the statue to reveal the brick, grab it and place it on the blue pad. By placing the three blue bricks on the blue pad, you will build a gear mechanism that will operate the elevator next to it. Ride the elevator to the ledge above and go left to find this artifact.
  8. (S) In the sixth area, blow on the microphone to extinguish five torches and reveal this artifact in the center:
     1. The first three torches are on the left wall.
     2. The fourth torch is near the door leading to the seventh area.
     3. The fifth torch is on the far right wall.
  9. (F) In the sixth area, destroy a bush on the far right and use a digger character to dig up some pieces. Use the pieces you dug up to build a lever and pull it to move the bed aside, revealing a secret staircase. Go down it to reach another special area. In that special area, jump to grab the rope hanging over the lava pool. Wait for one of the moving pedestals to approach and jump on it. Jump from there to the central pedestal with the blue stud. Then, jump from there to one of the moving pedestals as it passes to the right and from there to the alcove with this artifact.
  10. (F) In the special area with the previous artifact, go through the archway on the left wall to reach the other side of the seventh area. There, jump to the ledge on the left, stand on a brown pad and use a character with whip on it to reach the ledge above, where you will find this artifact.

• Chilled Monkey Brains Red Power Brick
  • (S) In the third area, build a lever on the southwest side and pull it to reveal this Red Power Brick.

Unlockables

The artifact model in this level is an Elephant. After completing the level, you unlock Willie Scott (Pajamas) and a Thuggee. In Barnett College you can buy Chattar Lal, Maharajah and British Officer (Redcoat). You will also be able to continue to Temple of Doom. After collecting the Red Power Brick, you can purchase Chilled Monkey Brains.
