Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides is the fourth and final episode in LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean: The Video Game.

Story[]

In 1750, a man rescued from the ocean is brought to King Ferdinand of Spain, where he claims to have sailed with Ponce de León, who died 200 years earlier searching for the Fountain of Youth.

Years after Captain Jack Sparrow lost the Black Pearl to Captain Barbossa and acquired Sao Feng's map to find the Fountain, Jack rescues his first officer, Mr. Gibbs, from an execution in London, only to be captured. Gibbs takes Jack's map, while Jack himself is brought before King George II, who wants him to lead an expedition to the Fountain before King Ferdinand's Spanish Armada can locate it. Barbossa, now sporting a wooden leg and having lost the Pearl, joins the expedition as a privateer. Jack escapes, leading Barbossa to later recruit Gibbs, who memorizes Jack's map before eating it, and they set sail aboard the HMS Providence. Scrum tells Sparrow that the Unholy Ritual is required to use the Fountain. Jack also learns that another Jack Sparrow is recruiting a crew. The impostor is Angelica, Jack's former lover and daughter of Blackbeard, who commissioned him to board the Queen Anne's Revenge.

Among the crew are Zombie Pirates and Philip, a captured missionary. Blackbeard practices voodoo magic as a witch and wants to find the Fountain to prevent the prophesied death of a one-legged man. Although Jack incites the human crew to mutiny against the zombies, Blackbeard subdues the mutineers with a sword that allows him to control the ships. Jack learns from Angelica that the Fountain ritual requires a mermaid's tear and two silver chalices located on Ponce de León's ship, the Santiago. Both chalices receive water from the Fountain, and the one who drinks the water with the tear receives all the years of life from the other.

Angelica also shows Jack Blackbeard's collection of miniaturized ships captured in bottles, including the Black Pearl. The Revenge sails to White Cap Bay, where Blackbeard's crew captures the mermaid Syrena. Barbossa, Gibbs, and some of the British crew continue on foot after the Providence is attacked by mermaids.

Blackbeard sends Jack to find the chalices and takes the magic compass from him. Jack and Barbossa meet in the Santiago, but discover that the Spanish have taken the chalices. Before retrieving the chalices, Barbossa reveals his true agenda: a desire for revenge against Blackbeard, detailing the attack on the Black Pearl, which Barbossa truly believes is sunk, leading him to cut off his leg through self-amputation. Jack returns to Blackbeard and gives him the chalices in exchange for Jack's compass, after which Jack fires Gibbs.

All parties locate the Fountain of Youth, leading to a battle in which Barbossa attacks Blackbeard with a poisonous frog. Angelica is poisoned by the poisonous frog. The Spanish throw the chalices into a deep pool and destroy the Fountain, believing it to be an abomination against God. In the midst of the chaos, Philip frees Syrena, who hands the chalices to Jack. Jack fills the chalices with the remaining drops of water from the Fountain and adds Syrena's tear. Jack tricks Blackbeard into drinking the chalice without a tear. Angelica is cured, while Blackbeard dies. Syrena returns to the injured Philip and, after she forgives him, they kiss and return underwater.

Barbossa claims Blackbeard's ship, crew, and sword for himself and returns to a life of piracy. Meanwhile, Jack abandons Angelica on a cay, not sure he can trust her. Jack meets up with Gibbs, who uses the compass to locate the Revenge and recover the Black Pearl in a bottle. As they figure out how to get the Pearl out, Jack tells Gibbs that he is determined to continue living the pirate's life.

In a post-credits scene, Jack's hat washes ashore and reaches Angelica, who smiles.

Characters[]

Differences from the film[]

  • The part were the fishermen discover the Ancient Sailor is omitted.
  • Ferdinand VI accidentally kills the ancient fisherman when he tries to take the book from him.
  • Angelica steals the book from the Spanish with a fishing rod.
  • Angelica (disguised as Jack) wears a face hider, with a nose, mustache and glasses.
  • The court scene is omitted.
  • Mr. Gibbs accompanies Jack to St James's Palace. This was to make the level more co-op friendly.
  • When Gibbs and Jack attempt to escape from the palace, Jack takes a piece of chicken.
  • Angelica has henchmen to attack Jack.
  • Angelica knocks out Jack with a saucepan in the storage room instead of the Quartermaster shooting him with a dart by the River Thames.
  • Gibbs eats the map instead of burning it.
  • In the Mutiny on the Queen Anne's Revenge, Jack has to only recruit Garheng, Salaman and the Cook.
  • After the Mutiny, the Cook is turned in a zombie straight away instead of being killed then turned into a zombie.
  • The scene with Jack and Angelica dancing is omitted. Instead Angelica asks Jack to read a book about the Fountain of Youth but Jack refuses and Angelica walks towards him in a flirty manner and pushes him into the room with the ships in bottles.
  • Philip, Scrum and Derrick are the only ones who have to go out to attract the mermaids.
  • Syrena is the mermaid who goes to the raft off of the coast of White Cap Bay.
  • Philip and Syrena fall in love at White Cap Bay instead of the unnamed island.
  • When the lighthouse is destroyed, Syrena lands straight in the case.
  • Derrick survives the mermaid attack.
  • The Cliff Scene is omitted.
  • Instead of slitting his throat, Blackbeard hurtles food at Philip in order to make Syrena cry.
  • Jack and Privateer Barbossa don't get captured in the Spanish camp.
  • Barbossa and Jack escape the camp in a tree slingshot.
  • The Jungle Pools scene is omitted.
  • Blackbeard and Angelica make their way to the Fountain straight away, leaving the collapsed bridge behind them.
  • Theodore Groves, Gillette and other British Marines do not show up during the battle at the Fountain of Youth and during the attack on the Spanish camp.
  • Instead of the British fighting Blackbeard's men, the Spanish soldiers do battle with them.
  • Instead of stabbing Blackbeard with a poisoned sword, Barbossa throws a poison frog at Blackbeard. It later bounces off Angelica, poisoning her as well.
  • During the boss fight with Blackbeard, Syrena joins Jack and the others to defeat Blackbeard.
  • Jack and Barbossa fight Blackbeard together rather than Barbossa fighting Blackbeard alone. This is to make it more co-op friendly.
  • When Blackbeard is defeated, Angelica slaps Jack in the face with Blackbeard's beard.
  • At the end, Barbossa recovers his original pirate hat, but still wears his Navy coat.
  • Angelica finds Jack's hat washed up on the island rather than the voodoo doll.
