The Nintendo Switch is a video game console made by Nintendo that was released in 2017. A hybrid console, the Switch can be played portably as a handheld or can be docked and played like a home console. The Switch's controllers, the Joy-Cons, can attach and detach from the system's sides, and can either be used as one controller or separately as two. Two revised versions of the Nintendo Switch were released: the Nintendo Switch Lite, which functions exclusively as a handheld, and the Nintendo Switch OLED, which uses an OLED screen. The Switch is the first handheld game system since the PlayStation Portable to have direct ports of the home console/PC LEGO games, instead of a separate game created specifically for handhelds. The Switch was preceded by the Wii U and Nintendo 3DS consoles and was succeeded by the Nintendo Switch 2 in 2025.

Trivia

• This is the first platform since the GameCube itself where the player can use a GameCube controller to play a LEGO game (not counting GameCube backwards compatibility with the Wii) since none of the Wii & Wii U LEGO games support it.
