News From Azkaban is the thirteenth level of LEGO Harry Potter: Years 1-4. It is the first level of The Prisoner of Azkaban.
Story[]
In 1993, Harry Potter spends another dissatisfying summer with the Dursleys. Hoping to be expelled for using magic outside of school, Harry flees with his belongings.
The Knight Bus takes Harry to the Leaky Cauldron, where Minister for Magic Cornelius Fudge assures Harry that he will not be punished. Reuniting with his best friends Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger, Harry learns that Sirius Black, a convicted supporter of Lord Voldemort, has escaped Azkaban Prison and intends to kill him. During the journey to Hogwarts, the Hogwarts Express is accosted by Dementors, ghostly prison guards searching for Black. One enters Harry's compartment, causing him to pass out, but the new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher, Remus Lupin, repels it with a Patronus Charm.
Walkthrough[]
The Leaky Cauldron[]
You will start in a room, where a book will attack you. Next to the bed you will find a folded painting. Cast Wingardium Leviosa on it - you can do it with whichever character - and the wizard will move to the other painting. Run to him and use magic. The wizard will drop his hat and the book will start chasing it. After a while, both items will be swallowed by the cabinet. Once it spits out the book, approach it and jump onto it. Once more approach the bended painting by the bed - this time the second wizard will move from the second painting. Use magic on him. Use Wingardium Leviosa to throw the wood into the chimney and light it up. Jump to the book again. Approach the painting by the bed for the last time - this time use magic on it right away. The wizard will throw a duck, which will explode - jump onto the book to proceed to the next area.
King's Cross Station[]
Once at the station, move to the right - steam will begin to come out of the locomotive. Use magic on the owl cage - it will pick up the suitcase and a flower will fall out of it. Use Wingardium Leviosa to put the flower on the locomotive's chimney. Go to the end and in one of the plants you will find a megaphone - use magic on the plant and then Wingardium Leviosa on the megaphone to bind it. It will scare the two students sitting on a luggage. You'll find some bricks in the one on the right - assemble them with Wingardium Leviosa and take it to the train. Jump on the train and move to the left. Jump onto the platform and look for the revolving door. Use Wingardium Leviosa to create a cauldron with the bricks that came out of the suitcase.
You will find the first ingredient of the potion on the left, in the box. The second can be found on the train. The last one is inside a suitcase at the end of the platform to the right. Break the black luggage on the left. Create a chain mechanism from the bricks - use the Strengthening Potion and pull it. After attaching the second car, go inside.
Hogwarts Express[]
Follow Trolley Witch, who is the woman who sells sweets. Use Wingardium Leviosa to give the first passenger a lollipop. Do the same with the second passenger - give her a lollipop using Wingardium Leviosa. Once the woman approaches the locked door, use Wingardium Leviosa to grab a cart key and use it on the door leading to the next compartment.
Hogwarts Express (Harassed)[]
Switch to Professor Lupin. Choose the Expecto Patronum spell and aim for the Dementor. Head to the left side of the car, taking care of more Dementors on your way. In one compartment, you will find a suitcase - open it with Wingardium Leviosa and take out the pickaxe that you will use to crush the ice that blocks the way to the next compartment. Assemble the cart with Wingardium Leviosa and place the gifts in it. Push the cart to unlock the entrance to the next compartment and you will cover the window. Head to the right as you get rid of the Dementors.
After reaching the tunnel, push the suitcase with Wingardium Leviosa, switch to Ron and use Scabbers. Follow the tunnel to the locked compartment and push the luggage onto the passenger - the door will open. Switch to Professor Lupin, use Wingardium Leviosa to open the suitcase and take out a key. Use the key to open the display case with an pickaxe and use it with Wingardium Leviosa to break the next obstacle.
Use Hermione to read the signs on the shelf in the next car. Switch to Professor Lupin and build a giant suitcase out of the bricks using Wingardium Leviosa. Place it just below the window to block light from entering the car. Use Wingardium Leviosa to use the pickaxe by the window to break the beam and place it above the window. You will block more light. Defeat three Dementors watching Harry to end the level.
Collectables[]
S means that the collectible can be obtained both in Story and in Free Play. F means the collectible can only be obtained in Free Play.
- House Crests
- Gryffindor
- (S) Use a character with an animal to dig up the box on top of the train and then use magic to destroy it and get this house crest.
- Slytherin
- (S) In the second car you will find three of five green Slytherin suitcases. Use magic on them, you can't miss them. Two more can be found in the next car.
- Hufflepuff
- (S) Once you're at the station, destroy five red boxes. Four of them are on the right side and the last one on the left of the turnstile.
- Ravenclaw
- (S) After pushing the suitcases away from the tunnel, jump onto them and then jump again - you will reach the next part of the crest.
- Gryffindor
- Student in Peril
- (F) Use Dark Magic to destroy the padlock on the toilet at the beginning of the car and rescue this student.
- Character Tokens
- Stan Shunpike
- (F) At the station you will find a big chest with a padlock - use Dark Magic on it to destroy it and get this character token.
- Ernie Prang
- (F) At the station, at the end of the platform to the right, you will find a black display case - destroy it with Dark Magic to get this character token.
- Trolley Witch
- (F) Next to the student in peril.
- Stan Shunpike
Unlockables[]
Stan Shunpike, Ernie Prang, and Trolley Witch can be purchased from Madam Malkin's Robes for All Occasions in Diagon Alley after collecting their Character Tokens. You will also be able to continue to Hogsmeade.
