Legoland is a theme park simulator game in the same vein as RollerCoaster Tycoon, based on the real-life LEGOLAND theme park. The gameplay and tutorials are easier for a younger audience and certain copies had free tickets to the park.

Game Modes[]

Story Mode[]

The game starts with a cutscene of the park's owner, Jonathan Ablebody calling the entire staff to a meeting, including the mechanic, JP, head chef, Rosie Brickolini and gardener, Bob Longtree. Inside is Professor Voltage showing off his time machine which he can go back in time and duplicate their buildings and activities for the park.

As the player progresses through Story Mode, Professor Voltage goes to different points in history to unlock new buildings and rides for the park. The player progresses through levels with their own mission objective that they must meet to move onto the next location to open up a park. At the end of the levels, the player is given a report by the park inspector, Mr. Bimble. The player can also enter Query Mode by clicking the question mark button on their hud to show a clicked visitor's happiness and hunger levels.

Free Play Mode[]

This mode has no objectives and no money or time limit, allowing the player to create whatever park they wish. However, they can only use the buildings and rides they have unlocked so far in Story Mode.

Tutorials[]

  • Lesson 1: Building Rides and Paths: Jonathan will instruct the player on how to place down rides, with the two from the start being the LEGO Toy Shop and the Space Tower Ride. Placing down the latter close to a walkway will also automatically form a queue pathway which the player can erase and edit later on. The player then forms a queue line at the already placed Toy Shop towards a walkway, they can then erase any rides or shops they so please with the erase button on their hud.
  • Lesson 2: Money and Planting Things: The player is now tasked with picking up and placing down workers with the mouse by clicking and dragging, carrying them out of an enclosed hedge and then placing down down five flowers. The Gardeners will immediately head over to plant them, then they will be tasked with placing down ten pine trees to show how each attraction or shrubbery costs money. The money count bar is at the top of the screen for the player to keep track of, as if they don't have enough funds they won't be able to complete their tasks. Using the erase button will also sell rides or buildings, which is what they do with the Toy Shop and the LEGO Media Shop, rewarding them with a Small Fountain to place where the Toy Shop once was.
  • Lesson 3: Power and Special Rides: The player will learn about their power levels here, but first they must summon six Gardeners from the Greenhouse and plant some stuff to spruce up the park. The Space Tower will be placed down next, rewarding the player with the Small Power Station. Any rides or buildings that flash blue indicate that they don't have enough power to run, this is where the Power Station comes in as it will increase the power level bar next to the money bar on the hud. The player will then place down a Clothes Shop, triggering a cutscene of Professor Voltage turning a spider into a massive Spider Ride for the player to place down next. Finally the player builds a second Power Station.
  • Lesson 4: Mechanics and Repairing Rides: When rides are flashing red, it means they're in need of repairs. Clicking on the broken rides will indicate how bad the damage is. However first things first, the player will place down the newly rewarded Copters Ride to show that brand new rides will always be in perfect condition. Clicking on the Mechanic's Hut will summon Mechanics to repair the three broken rides.
  • Lesson 5: Big Rides and the Wild West: Jonathan informs the player that Professor Voltage got the time machine up and running, allowing them to go back in time and bring in some Western themed buildings and rides. The player will be rewarded with the Boating School Entrance which is already in place, the player will need to plant fifteen flowers inside a hedge area. Any Gardeners or Mechanics the player no longer needs can then be placed back into either the Greenhouse or Mechanic's Hut by clicking and dragging on them. Afterwards the player will need to build a Small Power Station and place a queue line down in front of the Boating School Entrance. This will reward the player with the Little Mermaid building which can only be placed down after placing down waterway pieces. This will trigger a cutscene of Professor Voltage traveling back to the Wild West and inadvertently stopping a bank robbery. Now all the player has to do is build all the Western attractions in a closed of section of the park to complete the final tutorial.
