LEGO Star Wars III: The Clone Wars is a 2011 action-adventure game set in the Clone Wars era of the Star Wars universe, being based on the Star Wars: The Clone Wars animated film and series, along with Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones. It was developed by Traveller's Tales and published by LucasArts. It is the fourth game overall in the LEGO Star Wars series, following LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga.
Development[]
In June 2010, the first trailer for the game was released. Sometime in February 2011, a gameplay demo was also released. The game officially released a month later on March 22, 2011.
Features[]
LEGO Star Wars III: The Clone Wars has a story primarily based on the first two seasons of The Clone Wars, while also having some content from the theatrical film and Attack of the Clones. In the story, the player can play as various Jedi and clone troopers, with the clone troopers having their own different weapons. Some levels take place in ground battles where the player can fight opposing forces in large battlefields. The game adds a scene swap mechanic to the series where two different scenarios take place at once, and the player can switch between them to complete objectives. In the space battles, the player can now land and take off at certain points, and also change elevation with special devices.
Outside of the story, the player can explore the Galactic Republic's Resolute and the Separatists' Invisible Hand hub ships. The player can go to space to switch between the ships. As more Gold Bricks are collected, more of the hub world opens up. The player can also engage in ground battles to conquer different planets in the galaxy.

Version Differences[]
Wii[]
- This version lacks animated icons, probably due to console limitations.
- The elevator music in both the Resolute and Invisible Hand are slightly different, and are the same track each time as opposed to multiple variations.
Handheld versions[]

The DS, 3DS, and PSP versions of the game are a significantly different version to fit the hardware of the consoles.

Trivia[]
- This game and LEGO Batman: The Videogame are the only games to feature a villains campaign (excluding LEGO DC Super-Villains as it focuses on the villains).
- There is a glitch that causes the Sith missions to load the Jedi missions, this glitch seems to only (in theory) work on the Wii version.
- This and The LEGO Movie Videogame are the only LEGO video games from TT on console/PC to only have helpful extras and no aesthetic ones (although two were planned).
- This is the only TT LEGO game for a lot of things:
- Not counting the handheld version, this is the only LEGO Star Wars game to not to have a Phase II Clone Trooper.
- The only LEGO Star Wars game to not have Shaak Ti or Captain Panaka (excluding their appearances as DLC characters in LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens).
- The only LEGO Star Wars game that does not feature Obi-Wan and Anakin in their Episode III outfits, as well as Anakin as a child.
- Not counting BB-8 and custom BB units in LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens or a glitch in LEGO Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy that was fixed in The Complete Saga, this is the only LEGO Star Wars game in which astromech droids can use something rideable.
- The only LEGO Star Wars game to not depict Padmé as Queen Amidala or in her Tatooine outfit.
- This and LEGO Dimensions are the only LEGO games from TT on home console to allow players to spend studs in the levels.
- The only LEGO Star Wars game in which minikits build unlockable characters instead of minikit vehicles or microfighters.
- The only LEGO Star Wars game to have a Star Wars Legends character.
- The only LEGO Star Wars game to not depict footage or gameplay of anything featured in Star Wars Trilogy Arcade.
- The only LEGO Star Wars game in which blaster characters cannot put away their weapon, forcing them to do melee attacks with their weapons and not their hands and legs.
- The only LEGO Star Wars game that doesn't have levels based on a film from the original trilogy.
- The only LEGO Star Wars game to not be released in Japan.
- If the PlayStation Portable version of LEGO Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy is counted, then this is the only LEGO Star Wars game that doesn't have levels based on a PG-13 film as there are no levels based on Revenge of the Sith which was the first Star Wars movie with the rating and all previous films were rated PG, although the original trilogy came out before the PG-13 rating was created in 1984 in response to complaints from parents that some scenes in Gremlins & Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom were too intense for children, but the PG-13 rating does not restrict a child's entry into a PG-13 movie. Coincidentally, Indiana Jones makes a cameo appearance in the game.
- This game also marks the first of several things:
- The first LEGO video game to be released on the Nintendo 3DS. Coincidentally, the last LEGO video game to be released for the platform would also be based on Star Wars which would be LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
- The first LEGO video game where characters with magic will do so on buildable objects (not counting LEGO Harry Potter: Years 1-4 where no characters are capable of building).
- The first LEGO Star Wars game to depict new ranged weapons instead of pistols, bowcasters and megaphone blasters.
- The first LEGO Star Wars game in which droids can use something rideable (not counting a glitch in LEGO Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy).
- The first LEGO Star Wars game to not be released in Japan.
- The first LEGO video game to have a playable character originating from a video game.
- The first LEGO video game to adapt a television show.
- The first LEGO game where the Droideka can appear in the hub (not counting the DS version of LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga).
- The last LEGO video game to be published by LucasArts as Disney purchased Lucasfilm a year later.
- The first LEGO game where the player can choose for the split screen to be dynamic or fixed vertical.
- Nine extras were cut from the game. They were:
- Score x3
- Extra Hearts
- Super Jedi Slam
- Always Score Multiply
- All Buildings
- Disguise
- Disarm Goons
- Fast Magic
- Hit Bubbles
- A very early rendition of the outro cutscene from the Destroy Malevolence level is included within the gamefiles of the DS prototype of LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean: The Video Game.
- This and LEGO Star Wars: The Video Game are the only LEGO Star Wars games that do not feature the planet Endor or the Death Star.
- Cham Syndulla is in the handheld version who was later revealed to be the father of Hera Syndulla.
- On the cover of the game you can see that Grievous has the appearance of the first three games. Likewise, the back cover also shows him with his design from the first three games, which may suggest that he was going to use that design before the developers changed it to his final version design.
- In the background of the back cover there is a Jawa, but none of them appear in the game (except for in the handheld version).
- The game's difficulty similar to Jak II since both games are very hard and frustrating to complete. This is due to the fact that Naughty Dog increased the difficulty of Jak II because there were complaints that the first game of Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy was too easy. However, LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens is much easier which is similar to how Jak 3 is much easier than Jak II.
