LEGO Marvel's Avengers | LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens | LEGO Worlds |
LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens is the fifth LEGO game in the LEGO Star Wars series. It was released on 28 June 2016, for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, Nintendo 3DS, PlayStation Vita and Wii U, and was published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment under license from Lucasfilm.
In addition to adapting the film, the game includes content from Return of the Jedi and the period between the films.
Development[]
In early February 2016, publisher Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment teased that the company is working on a new title that involved "two of the world's most popular entertainment brands". The game was later leaked by several retailers, before its official announcement on 2 February 2016. Players who purchased the game's Deluxe Edition receive a season pass to the game and an exclusive LEGO minifigure of Finn, while players of the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 versions receive additional downloadable content, including a character pack and a bonus level. The packs are titled the "Droid Character Pack" and the "Phantom Limb Level Pack" respectively. The game was released on Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, Xbox 360, Xbox One, Nintendo 3DS and Wii U on 28 June 2016.
Audio[]
The game featured the voice talents of Daisy Ridley, Oscar Isaac, John Boyega, Adam Driver, Carrie Fisher (who died six months after the game’s release), Harrison Ford, Anthony Daniels, Domhnall Gleeson, Gwendoline Christie, Max von Sydow and Mark Harmill, reprising their roles from The Force Awakens, as well as Tom Kane reprising his role as Admiral Ackbar.[1]
Gameplay[]
The gameplay of LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens is similar to previous LEGO video games. New systems are introduced, including Multi-Builds, a new system that grants players access to various building options, which can be destroyed and rebuilt, in the brick-building sections of the game, allowing them to open up new paths in the game's world. Players can hide behind cover and engage in ranged battles in several sections of the game known as "Blaster Battles". A new collectible called "carbonite bricks" was introduced, in which the player receives a random unlockable character. The game features 183 characters in the base game, with 77 DLC characters. In addition to adapting the film, it also bridges the gap between Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens, where Lucasfilm allowed creative freedom to the additional content that will explore the characters' backstories.

Trivia[]
- This is the only LEGO Star Wars game to date not to feature Tatooine as it was not featured in The Force Awakens movie.
- This is the only LEGO Star Wars game to allow the player to explore inside the Millennium Falcon. In other games, the interior is shown only during cutscenes.
- Starkiller Base & the Millennium Falcon are the only hub worlds in this game not to return in LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga.
- This is the first installment of the main LEGO Star Wars game series not to have been published by LucasArts, due to that company’s dissolution.
- The font used for the in-game text was previously used for the GBA version of LEGO Star Wars: The Video Game.
- This was the last LEGO video game for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PlayStation Vita, Nintendo 3DS & Wii U.
- This is the first LEGO game to allow the player to do rolls manually. The others are The LEGO Ninjago Movie Videogame, LEGO DC Super-Villains and LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga.
- This is one of three LEGO games from TT on console/PC to have the heart counter above the stud counter in levels, the others being LEGO Dimensions and LEGO The Incredibles.
- This game is one of only two LEGO video games to have an extra or upgrade for regenerating health, but no extra for invincibility, the other being LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga.
- Multi-Builds and Blaster Battles later returned in LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, although the latter is optional as the player doesn't have to take cover and they can still take out all the enemies.
- This and LEGO Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy are the only LEGO Star Wars games not to feature the planets of Naboo, Coruscant & Geonosis (excluding the Darth Maul & Count Dooku levels in the PSP version of LEGO Star Wars II).
- This is the first LEGO video game on console and PC with playable characters having their animations with the expressions on their faces as textures, instead of actually moving.
- However, the cutscenes show the facial animations like previous LEGO games.
- This is the first LEGO video game that uses a different build complete sound effect from other LEGO games.
- This is the only LEGO Star Wars game to allow the player to summon any vehicle in the hub at any time.
- This is the first LEGO video game from TT on console/PC where the player can continue playing from their last save file from the main menu without having to select a specific one.
- This is the last LEGO video game on home consoles to have a brightness option.
- This is the only LEGO Star Wars game where astromech droids such as R2-D2 are incapable of hovering or jumping.
- This and LEGO Marvel's Avengers are the only LEGO games to allow the player to replay quests given by characters in the hub.
- This game introduced a new character tag/switching sound effect which would be only used again with The LEGO Ninjago Movie Videogame & LEGO The Incredibles. The one introduced in LEGO The Lord of the Rings has been used in every LEGO game since then except for the ones mentioned, LEGO City Undercover & The LEGO Movie Videogame.
- This was the second and last LEGO game on handhelds to have DLC.
- This is the first LEGO Game since LEGO Rock Band with "Mild Language", likely due to Finn's quote "That's one hell of a pilot!", however, the game's subtitles censored it to "That's one helluva pilot!". LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga changed the line to "That's one heck of a pilot!"
