LEGO City is the hub world of LEGO City Undercover. It's split off into fourteen districts, three bridges, two tunnels and three islands, totaling up to twenty-two locations to visit.

Summary

It is so large that it contains many collectables. Collectibles and challenges from certain locations can be seen across the map. In the open world, there are challenges, red bricks, character tokens, and vehicle tokens scattered everywhere.

• Character Tokens
  • Certain character tokens are earned by completing a series of challenges related to a certain category throughout LEGO City:
    • Marion Dunby (Police)*
      • This character token is obtained by arresting 16 gangs. These challenges consist of using a Police character at an Audio Scan point to detect a gang of criminals. After detecting the gang of criminals, head towards them before time runs out and fight the robbers until you arrest them. When there is one criminal left, he will try to run away from you. Chase him and when you see the action button flashing above him, quickly press it to catch him.
    • Chuck Morrison (Police)*
      • This character token is obtained by arresting 12 vehicle robbers. These challenges consist of using a Police character at a Criminal Scan point to detect a thief stealing a vehicle. After detecting the thief, he will try to escape with the vehicle. Get into the vehicle left by a helicopter and chase the thief. Hit his vehicle to remove a heart. Health may depend on the vehicle the thief drives; It can be four or five hearts. After removing all the hearts from the vehicle, the thief will try to flee. Chase him and when you see the action button flashing above him, quickly press it to catch him. Completing one of these challenges will also give you a vehicle token related to the vehicle that the thief you caught tried to steal.
    • Bandit (Robber)*
      • This character token is obtained by smashing 18 ATMs. These challenges consist of using a Robber character to break an ATM. Just when you try to use an ATM with a Robber character, press the action button several times to break it instead. Using the ATM with a non-Robber character will only give you studs. (Obtaining this character token will also allow you to purchase Bandit (Civilian).)
    • Old Quiang (Robber)*
      • This character token is obtained by completing 13 vehicle robberies. These challenges consist of using a Robber character to open a door or hatch and attempt to steal a vehicle. When you go to steal a vehicle, you will start a police chase. In the police chase, your vehicle has four hearts and you are attacked by police vehicles. If you crash into walls or get hit by a police vehicle, your vehicle will lose a heart. Losing all the hearts will cause you to lose the challenge. To win the challenge, follow the path of ghost studs while avoiding crashing into walls and police vehicles. When you reach your destination, you will store the vehicle in a garage and win the challenge. Completing one of these challenges will also give you a vehicle token related to the vehicle you stole.
    • Barney Greenschist (Miner)*
      • This character token is obtained by destroying 22 boulders. These challenges consist of using a Miner character to destroy light gray boulders surrounded by flowers. Some of them are usually hidden behind a pile of black rocks.
    • Mine Foreman (Miner)*
      • This character token is obtained by destroying 17 silver statues. These challenges consist of using a Miner character to destroy silver statues of Rex Fury with dynamite. After placing a dynamite in a barrel next to a silver statue, move away from it and it will explode, destroying the silver statue. The Unlimited Dynamite extra can be used to complete these challenges quickly without having to search for dynamite.
    • Space Alien (Astronaut)*
      • This character token is obtained by capturing 17 aliens. These challenges consist of using an Astronaut character to open a space box and reveal a Space Alien. Then, you must chase the Space Alien until you arrest them and complete the challenge. (Obtaining this character token will also allow you to purchase Space Alien (Civilian).)
    • Rex Fury (Astronaut)*
      • This character token is obtained by conquering 20 districts. These challenges consist of using an Astronaut character to place an Astronaut flag on high locations, typically the highest point in a district.
    • Squirrel McTavish (Farmer)*
      • This character token is obtained by watering 20 flowers. These challenges consist of using a Farmer character to water flowers in a green pot.
    • Jethro Hayes (Farmer)*
      • This character token is obtained by returning 22 pigs. These challenges consist of finding a lost pig, which may be in hidden or high places. After finding a pig, get on it and follow the path of ghost studs until you take it to a Pig Cannon, where you will put it inside. Then, use a Farmer character to load the cannon and shoot the pig to the Fort Meadows farm. The only exception to this is in Fort Meadows, where you will take the pig to the farm instead.
    • Cornelius Burns (Fireman)*
      • This character token is obtained by rescuing 17 cats. These challenges consist of using a Fireman character to give food to a cat, which may be on high ledges. The cat will jump towards you and you will put it in your helmet.
    • Forest Fireman (Fireman)*
      • This character token is obtained y extinguishing 17 BBQ fires. These challenges consist of using a Fireman character to put out the fire of a barbecue, which may be hidden somewhere.
    • Albert Spindlerouter (Construction)*
      • This character token is obtained by completing 20 coffee breaks. These challenges consist of using a Construction character to drink coffees. The coffee is usually on hidden tables.
    • Rod Stanchion (Construction)*
      • This character token is obtained by completing 17 drill thrills. These challenges consist of using a Construction character to repair an electrical box and step on a button. After you step on the button, ventilation floors will appear everywhere. Drill them using the pneumatic hammer to win the challenge. You have to do it quickly, since you have a time limit that may vary.
  • These character tokens are also obtained throughout LEGO City, but not by completing challenges. Instead, they are obtained by building or destroying five things, which can change depending on which version you play.
    • Super Wrestler (Civilian)*
      • If your version of the game is Wii U or Nintendo Switch, you will find five ? Blocks from Mario Bros. all over LEGO City. Jump under them three times to hit and destroy them. If your version of the game is PS4, Xbox One or PC, you will find Rex Graffiti Skullptures instead. Hit them three times to destroy them.
    • Pop Star (Civilian)*
      • In very high places, you will find five boxes that can change depending on the version. If your version of the game is Wii U or Nintendo Switch, you will find yellow boxes. Destroy them to build a Super Star from Mario Bros.. Your character will do a dance and the star will go to the sky. If your version of the game is PS4, Xbox One or PC, you will find police boxes instead of yellow boxes. Destroying them will allow you to build a Police Badge, which has the same functions as a Super Star.
