LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight is an upcoming open-world action-adventure game created by TT Games based on the Batman franchise. Announced on August 19, 2025, it is set to release sometime in 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch 2, and Microsoft Windows.
Development[]
After the use of the NTT game engine caused trouble during the development of LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, TT Games switched to Unreal Engine for their future projects.
On August 19, 2025, the reveal trailer for LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight was released during Gamescom Opening Night Live. A hands-on demo was displayed at Gamescom.
Gameplay[]
According to the game's official website, the game is inspired by Batman comic books, films, television, and games. It also states that the game will feature seven playable characters: Batman, Commissioner Gordon, Robin, Nightwing, Batgirl, Catwoman, and Talia al Ghul, each with their own weapons, abilities, and gadgets.[1] The game will have difficulty modes called "Caped Crusader" and "Dark Knight Mode" designed to increase the game's challenge, with the latter said to be even more difficult. Dark Knight Mode will give the player limited lives.[2][3]
The game will have the player complete missions to get rewards. The open world of the game will be Gotham City. The missions and open worlds in the game will have collectables to find, including Skill Bricks, Power Bricks, Ace Cards, Riddler Puzzle Boxes, and Wayne Tech Caches.[4]
Plot[]
The game's plot brings together and references moments from Batman comic books, films, television series, and games.[1] It starts with a young Bruce Wayne training with the League of Shadows.[3]
