Transcript[]
Aragorn's Return[]
- Rohirrim Soldier: Make way for Théoden. Make way for the king.
- Éowyn: So few of you have returned.
- King Théoden: [He gets off his horse] Our people are safe.
- Éowyn: Lord Aragorn... Where is he?
- Gimli: He fell. [Crying]
- [Aragorn arrives at Helm's Deep, but not before removing a star from the sea that was stuck in him]
- Aragorn: [He pulls out a stuck fish] All Isengard is emptied.
- King Théoden: How many?
- Aragorn: Ten Thousand strong at least.
- King Théoden: Ten Thousand?
- Aragorn: It is an army bred for a single purpose: To destroy the world of Men.
- King Théoden: Let them come! I want every man and strong lad able to bear arms to be ready for battle by nightfall. Get the women and children into the caves.
- [Éowyn gets sad because she can't fight]
Preparing for Battle[]
- Gimli: This is no rabble of mindless Orcs. These are Uruk-hai. Their armour is thick and their shields broad.
- King Théoden: I have fought many wars, Master Dwarf. I know how to defend my own keep.
- Aragorn: You must call for aid.
- King Théoden: And who will come?
- [A horn sounds]
- Rohirrim Soldier: Open the gate!
- Another Rohirrim Soldier: [Yelling] Open up the gate!!!
- [The Lothlórien Elves enter the fortress]
- King Théoden: How is this possible?
- Haldir: I bring word from Elrond of Rivendell. We are proud to fight alongside Men once more.
- Aragorn: You are most welcome.
- [The camera moves and shows a group of Uruk-hai approaching the fortress. The level then begins]
The Battle Begins[]
- Gimli: You could have picked a better spot. What's happening out there?
- Legolas: Shall I describe it to you? Or would you like me to find you a box?
- Gimli: Heh heh heh heh.
- [As the groups wait to fight, an old man shoots an arrow at an Uruk-hai, causing the battle to begin]
- King Théoden: So it begins.
- [The Uruk-hai attack the charge]
Destroying the ladders[]
- [After destroying three ladders]
- Gimli: Legolas! Two already!
- Legolas: I'm on seventeen!
- Gimli: I'll have no pointy-ear outscoring me!
Destroyed Wall[]
- King Théoden: Is this it? Is this all you can conjure, Saruman?
- [A Berserker arrives with a torch]
- Aragorn: [Elvish] Legolas! Take him down...
- [Legolas shoots an arrow at the Berserker, but it does no harm]
- Aragorn: [Elvish] Kill him! Kill him!
- [Gimli throws a statue at the Berserker, causing him to stumble and throw the torch towards the bombs, causing the wall to explode]
- King Théoden: Aragorn! Fall back to the Keep! Get your men out of there!
- [Legolas descends using a fallen piece, as the trio draws their weapons]
Strengthening the Gate[]
- [The Uruk-hai carry a battering ram to break the gate to the fortress]
- King Théoden: Brace the gate!
- [Just as the Uruk-hai use the battering ram to break the gate, the Rohirrim Soldiers strengthen the gate with sufficient force. One of them throws a spear at them, while another throws a trophy at an Uruk-hai]
- King Théoden: Hold them!
- Aragorn: How long do you need?
- King Théoden: As long as you can give me.
- Aragorn: Gimli!
- [Aragorn and Gimli go to the right side of the gate]
- Aragorn: Timbers!
- [The Uruk-hai use an Orc to break the gate, but fail]
- Aragorn: It's a long way.
- Gimli: You'll have to toss me. Don't tell the Elf.
- Aragorn: Not a word.
Defending the Gate[]
- [After destroying Uruk-hai's shield]
- King Théoden: [off-screen] Hold them!
- [After defeating the remaining Uruk-hai groups]
- King Théoden: [off-screen] Brace the gate!
The Uruk-hai have not won[]
- [The Uruk-hai manage to break the door with the battering ram]
- King Théoden: They have broken through! The castle is breached. Retreat! Retreat!
- Aragorn: Hurry! Inside. Get them inside!
- King Théoden: Into the Keep!
- [Inside the Keep, a Rohirrim Soldier pushes a piano, while another clutches a pig]
- King Théoden: The fortress is taken. It is over. What can Men do against such reckless hate?
- Aragorn: Ride out with me. For Rohan.
- King Théoden: Yes. Let this be the hour when we draw swords together.
- [Gimli goes up some stairs to open the gate]
- King Théoden: Fell deeds, awake. [The gate opens a little] Now for wrath, now for ruin and a red dawn. [Gimli blows the horn] Forth Eorlingas!
- [The horses begin to fight the Uruk-hai]
- Rohirrim Soldier: AAHHH!!!
Victory for the Rohirrim[]
- [Gandalf arrives with his white horse]
- Aragorn: Gandalf.
- Gandalf the White: Théoden King stands alone.
- [Éomer arrives]
- Éomer: Not alone. Rohirrim!
- [Rohirrim Soldiers arrive]
- King Théoden: Éomer!
- Éomer: To the king!
- [All Rohirrim Soldiers go out to attack mounted on their horses. The Uruk-hai try to attack, but the sun bothers their vision]
- Gandalf the White: Charge!
- [Rohirrim Soldiers kill several Uruk-hai, while others flee]
- King Théoden: Victory! We have victory!
- Gandalf the White: [He hits a fleeing Uruk-hai] AAHH!
- [The level ends]
Sauron watches over another area[]
- [The Eye of Sauron changes its vision from Osgiliath to Isengard]
Story[]
Aragorn arrives at Helm's Deep and warns Théoden that Saruman's army is approaching. Théoden prepares for battle despite being greatly outnumbered. A company of Lothlórien Elves arrive to aid the people of Rohan, shortly before Saruman's army attacks the fortress. The Uruk-hai breach the outer wall with explosives and during the subsequent charge, kill the Elven commander, Haldir. The defenders retreat to the keep, where Aragorn convinces Théoden to confront the Uruk-hai in a final charge. At dawn, while the defenders are overwhelmed, Gandalf and Éomer arrive with the Rohirrim, turning the tide of the battle. The surviving Uruk-hai flee to Fangorn Forest and are killed by the trees. Gandalf warns that Sauron will retaliate.
Walkthrough[]
Level Prelude[]
After completing the previous level, you will appear in Helm's Deep with Gimli and Legolas. You still won't be able to do anything from the perspective of Frodo, Sam, Gollum, Faramir and Madril, as Sauron's gaze will still block access to Osgiliath. From Gimli and Legolas' perspective, follow the path of ghost studs and enter the fortress to start this level.
Level Walkthrough[]
You start on the other side of the outer wall of the fortress. Switch to Gimli, jump onto the cracked tile on the ground to the right, and destroy it to grab a crank. Then, switch to Legolas, use his bow to shoot a target to the left of the silver grate, and build a mechanism with the gears received. Place the crank on the mechanism, turn it to drop two chests, use the bricks received to build a platform and use it to reach the wall. Climb up to the ledge on the right, destroy a broken slab in the floor with Gimli, and continue climbing until you reach the top of the wall. The real battle will begin. You will have to start by protecting the walls of three ladders. To destroy the ladder on the right side, destroy the hooks to make it fall. To destroy the ladder on the left side, use Gimli to destroy a broken slab on the floor and make the ladder fall. To destroy the central ladder, use Legolas' bow to shoot the Uruk-hai at the top of the ladder and cause the ladder to fall. When you destroy those three stairs, an Uruk-hai will destroy the rocks on the right. Four ladders will appear. Go to the far right, enter a hatch with Gimli, and push a chest to build a cracked tile on the far right ladder. Destroy the tile with Gimli's axe to make the ladder on the far right fall. To destroy the second ladder in the center, use Legolas' bow to defeat the Uruk-hai standing on it and make the ladder fall. To destroy the ladder on the left side, use Gimli to destroy a broken slab on the floor and make the ladder fall. Six more ladders will appear. To destroy the ladder on the left side, use Gimli to destroy a broken slab on the floor and make the ladder fall. To destroy the first ladder in the center, use Legolas' bow to defeat the Uruk-hai standing on it and make the ladder fall. To destroy the second ladder in the center, grab Gimli and throw him towards the cracked tile to make the ladder fall. To destroy the third ladder in the center, do the same as you did with the first one in the center. To destroy the ladder on the right side, destroy the hooks to make it fall.
When you destroy all six stairs, you will go down again, this time with the outer wall destroyed. Use Gimli's axe to break the cracked tile on the left side wall. Build a platform with the received bricks to reach the upper ledge and destroy a set of spears to build an target. Switch to Legolas, place an arrow in the hole and swing on it to reach the ledge on the left. Push a rock so the others can climb up, defeat an Uruk-hai, switch to Gimli to destroy a tile on some rocks on the left, and go to the far left to move on to the next area.
In the next area, the Uruk-hai will try to break the gate. Grab Gimli and throw him at Uruk-hai's broken shield to defeat most of the group. Defeat the remaining Uruk-hai, destroy the battering ram and strengthen the gate with the bricks received. The game will then switch you to Legolas, who is at the top of the area. Hit the ladders that appear on the left side of the area to make them fall. Three ladders appear, and when they are destroyed, a large one will appear in the southern part. Destroy the two hooks on the ladder to make it fall and build the remains on the south floor. Push a box to make it fall to the bottom, switch back to Aragorn or Gimli and build a platform to grab the rope on the left and then reach the top. When you get there with Aragorn and Gimli, you will enter the final area.
In the final area, you will be killing the Uruk-hai on horseback. As you pass Uruk-hai, press the attack button to kill them with your sword. Near the end of the level, there will be the Cave Trolls, on which you will have to jump on their chains to avoid damage. After passing five Cave Trolls, the level will end.
