Escape from Echo Base is the seventh level in the Nintendo DS version of LEGO Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy. It is the second level of The Empire Strikes Back.

ESCAPE FROM ECHO BASE

Imperial forces have mounted

a relentless assault on the

rebel base on Hoth. The rebel

fighters have held out

bravely, but the enemy is

overwhelming.

In the Echo base command

center, carved deep into the

ice of the frozen planet, Han

Solo and Princess Leia

monitor the evacuation of

rebel personnel.

But as Stormtroopers breach

the outer defences, they

must quickly find an escape

route for themselves...

Story

Han and Leia walk down a hallway until they realize that the Empire is winning as Echo Base begins to collapse. They then decide to escape from Echo Base. They fight many Snowtroopers on the way to the Falcon, help some Rebel Snowtroopers, and encounter C-3PO and Chewbacca. Darth Vader arrives too late when he realizes that the rebels escaped in the Millennium Falcon, which frustrates him.

Walkthrough

As you start the level, you'll see a cutscene where Han and Leia are walking down a hallway, but they'll notice that Echo Base is starting to collapse. When the scene ends, go through the hallway while defeating Snowtroopers and helping some Rebel Snowtroopers. When you find ice debris blocking the hallway, head into the room on the right. In this room, defeat three Snowtroopers and go to the door on the left. Finding a junction in the next hallway, head to the door on the right, as you won't be able to do anything from the door ahead other than defeat enemies and build a computer. In the next room, fight all the enemies, use a blaster to reach the platforms above, and then jump towards a door to reach the next area.

In the next area, you will start sliding down a hill. When you finish sliding, go to the door on the left at a junction and, upon finding another junction, go to the door ahead while defeating Snowtroopers and destroying a turret. Upon entering a circular area, go to the door on the right and go through another hallway defeating more enemies. At the end of this hallway, go to another door, defeat more enemies and go to the door ahead to reach the next area.

In the next area, shoot some icicles to prevent more Stormtroopers from appearing, destroy a turret, and approach C-3PO to join your team. Go to the door on the right side, turn the corner and shoot a bomb to make it explode and destroy some compacted ice. Then, go to the door ahead to reach the next area.

The next area can be very confusing. First, pull a lever on the right to lower the first group of boxes. Then, destroy some red barrels to reveal a grapple point and use it with Han or Leia to reach the platforms above. Jump to a lever on the platform just ahead and pull it to lower the second group of boxes. Next, go down to the north side of the area and build a switch to lower the second group of boxes. Cross the group of boxes you lowered, go right and build another switch to lower the first group of boxes so 3PO can cross. Finally, switch to him and use a protocol panel to disable a barrier and then go through the door into the next area.

In the next area, slide down another hill until you reach the bottom floor, where you'll see a cutscene where Chewbacca is behind some packed ice. Go left, hit some icicles to prevent the Stormtroopers from respawning, and use 3PO to open an elevator that will take you to the next area.

In the next area, go south to find some levers in three dispensers. First, pull the one on the left, and push a box towards the connector on the far left. Then, pull the middle one, and push another box towards the connector near a tree on the left side. Finally, pull the one on the right, and push one more box towards the connector near a barrier on the right side. By connecting the three boxes to the connectors, a bomb will appear near the compacted ice in the previous area. Go to the elevator on the far right to return to the previous area.

Returning to the previous area, go right at the junction and shoot the bomb to make it explode and destroy the compacted ice. Then, go to the door to reach the hangar, defeat two enemies on both sides and destroy a turret in the center. Build a box to jump over the boxes, destroy one more turret and go to the Millennium Falcon to play a cutscene and finish the level.

Collectables

S means that the collectible can be obtained both in Story and in Free Play. F means the collectible can only be obtained in Free Play.

• Minikit Canisters
  1. (F) At the beginning of the level, go behind it to find the ice wall you saw in the opening cutscene. Use 4-LOM's or Leia Bounty Hunter's bombs to destroy it and reach a special room. Destroy the middle box to build a skeleton that will attack you. Defeat it to reveal this minikit.
  2. (S) To the right in the first hallway of the first area, you will see a closed door. To open it, you will need to build five computers throughout the first area. After you build all five computers, you will hear the sound of a door opening. Go back to the first hallway and you will see that the door on the right that didn't open before has opened. In its room, you will find this minikit. The locations of the five computers are shown below:
     1. The first two computers are in the first room.
     2. At the junction, instead of going through the room with the right door, go through the room with the north door. There, defeat two Snowtroopers and build the third computer on the left side of the room.
     3. The last two computers are in the room before moving on to the second area. The first one is on the right side, while the second one is on the first platform.
  3. (F) At the junction of the first area, go north of the hallway, but instead of going to the north room, you will find a ramp on the left. Jump over it with a double jump character to reach a room with this minikit. You can also use Gonk Droid to go up the ramp if you have a hard time jumping.
  4. (S) After going down the slide at the beginning of the second area, instead of going to the left door, go to the door ahead. In its room, you will find this minikit inside a central tube. Defeat all the Snowtroopers in the room and build a machine to the left of the tube to open it and get this minikit.
  5. (F) In the hallway of the second area, instead of going through the north door, go through the door on the left to reach another hallway. Go through it while defeating enemies and go to another door on the left to reach a bathroom. There, you will find three doors. Destroy the one on the right and use a Jedi character on a toilet to turn it into a fountain. Stand on the fountain and use Jedi Slam after a double jump to reach this minikit (you can also use Boba Fett or Jango Fett).
  6. (F) Returning to the main hallway of the second area, you'll see an ice wall on the right. Destroy it with 4-LOM's or Leia Bounty Hunter's bombs and use an astromech droid to open a door to a special room. There, pull a lever on the right side to turn the game into a Survival Horror classic. The lights will turn off and the camera angles will become default. Defeat three enemies in the special room, return to the main hallway, and then go to the north room. There, defeat three enemies to reveal this minikit on the right side of the room, near the door leading to the next hallway.
  7. (F) In the fourth area, from the lever that lowers the second set of boxes, go to the left of the platform, jump to a platform to the south and drop down to reach the lower right corner of the area. There, go to the far right and use Boba Fett or Jango Fett to reach this minikit under a platform.
  8. (F) In the upper right corner of the fourth area, destroy a box to the right to reveal a small gap. Enter there with a small character to reach a special area with this minikit. The next small gap will take you to the end of the fifth area.
  9. (S) In the sixth area, you will find this minikit at the top of the tree near the second connector. It is possible to get there using a cartwheel with Han.
  10. (F) In the sixth area, use an astromech droid to disable a northern barrier and reach the other side of the area. There, step on the button on top of the dispenser next to the astromech panel (you can get up there using the third connector), and push a box onto a connector ahead to reveal this minikit.

Unlockables

After completing the level, you unlock Hoth Han Solo. Bossk will be unlocked after obtaining all minikits in this level. In Mos Eisley Cantina you can buy K-3PO, a Rebel Snowtrooper and a Snowtrooper. You will also be able to continue to The Asteroid Field.
