Story[]
In 1997, at Malfoy Manor, Professor Snape meets with Lord Voldemort and his Death Eaters. He informs that the Order of the Phoenix will move Harry Potter, who is no longer under his mother's protection spell, to a safe location. Voldemort confiscates Lucius Malfoy's wand; his is powerless against Harry because it and Harry's wand are "siblings" by sharing the same phoenix feather core. During the move, Harry survives Voldemort's attack, but Mad-Eye Moody is killed. During the preparations for the wedding of Bill Weasley and Fleur Delacour, the new Minister for Magic, Rufus Scrimgeour, arrives. He informs Harry, Ron, and Hermione that Professor Dumbledore left them each a legacy: Ron a Deluminator, Hermione a copy of The Tales of Beedle the Bard, and Harry the Golden Snitch that he caught in his first Quidditch match. Dumbledore had also bequeathed the Sword of Gryffindor to Harry, but it disappeared. During the wedding news arrives that the Ministry has fallen and Scrimgeour is dead. During the wedding news arrives that the Ministry has fallen and Scrimgeour is dead. The Death Eaters attack and Harry, Ron and Hermione escape to 12 Grimmauld Place.
While they are there, Ron realizes that Sirius' brother, Regulus Black, is the R.A.B. who stole Salazar Slytherin's locket from Voldemort. Local thief Mundungus Fletcher later sold it to Professor Umbridge. Harry, Ron and Hermione infiltrate the Ministry and recover the locket, but are pursued by Death Eaters in a chaotic exit. Hermione disapparates them into a campsite.
Meanwhile, Ron is injured. The trio decide to begin their journey to discover and destroy all of Lord Voldemort's Horcruxes, starting with the locket. Attempts to destroy the locket fail. Hermione deduces that Gryffindor's sword can destroy Horcruxes because it is infused with basilisk venom. Ron, affected by the dark locket, becomes frustrated by their slow progress and irrational jealousy towards Harry and Hermione. He argues with Harry, then stays in the tent, leaving Harry and Hermione to continue their journey. When Harry brings the snitch to his lips, it reveals a cryptic message: "I open at the close." Hermione notices a strange symbol drawn on Beedle the Bard that is identical to the one used by Luna Lovegood's father, Xenophilius. Harry and Hermione search for the sword in Godric's Hollow and find the same strange symbol in a graveyard. The elderly historian Bathilda Bagshot invites them to her cabin, where they find a photo of the young man from Harry's dream who stole a wand from the wandmaker Gregorovitch. Bathilda transforms into Voldemort's snake Nagini and attacks Harry. Hermione disapparates them to safety, but her rebounding spell accidentally destroys Harry's wand.
Hermione identifies the man in the photo as the dark wizard Grindelwald. That night, a Patronus doe takes Harry to a frozen pond where Gryffindor's sword lies at the bottom. Harry dives into the icy water, but the locket around his neck squeezes and strangles him. Ron appears, retrieves the sword, and saves Harry. They destroy the locket Horcrux with the sword. Ron explains that the Deluminator took him to their location.
Harry, Ron and Hermione visit Xenophilius Lovegood and discover that the symbol represents the Deathly Hallows. Many years earlier, in 1292, three brothers each received a prize for evading Death: the Resurrection Stone, the Cloak of Invisibility, and the Elder Wand, the most powerful wand known. Possessing all three makes one the Master of Death. Xenophilius secretly summons the Death Eaters, hoping to trade Harry for a kidnapped Luna. Xenophilius secretly summons the Death Eaters, hoping to trade Harry for a kidnapped Luna.
The three escape, but Snatchers capture them. During a vision, Harry sees an elderly Grindelwald telling Voldemort that the Elder Wand is buried with Dumbledore. At Malfoy Manor, Bellatrix Lestrange sees that a Snatcher has Gryffindor's sword that she believed was in her Gringotts vault. Harry and Ron are locked in the basement where they meet Luna, Ollivander and Griphook. Upstairs, Bellatrix tortures Hermione. Harry calls for help using a mirror shard in which he believes he has glimpsed Dumbledore; Dobby appears in response and helps save everyone while Harry snatches the captured wands from Draco Malfoy. As they disapparate, Bellatrix throws a bunch of furniture and kills Dobby. Harry buries him near Bill and Fleur's seaside cottage, an Order safe house.
Meanwhile, Voldemort recovers the Elder Wand from Dumbledore's tomb.

Differences from the film and book[]
- Hedwig's death is omitted.
- The spiral staircase in the centre of the Lovegood house has the ability to move.
- When the trio go to the Luchino Caffe, Dolohov and Thorfinn Rowle were already in the café.
- In the café, Hermione and Harry switched places at the table.
- The trio's stay at 12 Grimmauld Place and Kreacher are omitted.
- During the infiltration of the Ministry of Magic, when the three jump into the Floo Powder, Yaxley grabs Ron's arm, instead of Hermione's ankle.
- Ron does not leave Harry and Hermione at all. Instead, he just stayed inside the tent without them, acting grumpy.
- Harry and Hermione follow the silver doe together.
- Harry and Ron swim together in the lake in their underwear searching for the Sword of Gryffindor.
- Death Eaters don't destroy the Lovegood house, they just shoot Reducto at it.
- We see the capturing of Luna Lovegood that happens at her home. None of these events happens in the book, film or video game. In the film Death Eaters arrive on the Hogwarts Express and capture Luna, but the capture is not seen.
- The Peverells, Cadmus Peverell, Ignotus Peverell and Antioch Peverell, didn't depart, instead, they stay together.
- The personification of Death must be driven away by Ignotus.
- The Peverell Brothers' deaths were very different from the book and film; both Antioch and Cadmus were grabbed by Death.
- The Peverell Brothers' deaths took place in the same house where Cadmus Peverell uses the Resurrection Stone to bring back his girlfriend.
- Ignotus doesn't give his Cloak of Invisibilty to his son at Godric's Hollow, instead, he gave the cloak at the house. In the Wii version, he doesn't give the cloak at all.
- The spell Hermione used on Harry to make him unrecognized by the Snatchers and Death Eaters did not make his face look deformed, and instead made his head a brick.
- Dobby is not stabbed by Bellatrix Lestrange's knife. Instead, he is crushed by a bunch of furniture.
