Death Star Rescue is the third level in the Game Boy Advance version of LEGO Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy. It is the third level of A New Hope.

Story

However, before the Falcon could reach Alderaan, the Death Star destroys the planet. On the Death Star, Luke and Han steal two Stormtroopers' armor and use them. Luke, Han and Chewie find Leia in the cell block. Luke, Han, Chewie, and Leia head to the trash compactor, where the walls close. R2-D2 and C-3PO are found by Stormtroopers, but manage to rescue the quartet from the trash compactor.

Walkthrough

Alderaan

As you start the level, you'll see a cutscene where the Death Star destroys Alderaan. When the cutscene ends, you'll move on to the first area of ​​the level.

Death Star Hangar

In the first area, you will be attacked by many Stormtroopers. Defeat them and walk down the lower right hallway. Then, walk through the upper right hallway and go to the upper left hallway. Go up the ramp on the right, use Luke to build an astromech panel and use R2-D2 on it to open a door in the previous hallway. At this time, R2-D2 and C-3PO will remain in the control room. Go back to the previous hallway and go through the door you opened to move to the next area.

Death Star Subsector 1

In the next area, Han and Chewie will follow you. Go through the upper right hallway and then walk through the lower right hallway. Many enemies will appear, which can make it very difficult to obtain True Jedi in this level. When you defeat all the enemies, walk through the upper right hallway. There you will see a hat dispenser. Use Luke or Han on it to put on a Stormtrooper helmet. Go to the lower left hallway and, near a barrier, build an Imperial panel. Make sure Han or Luke has a Stormtrooper helmet to use the panel to disable the barrier. As you continue down the lower left hallway and then down the lower right hallway, enemies should not notice you if you are wearing the Stormtrooper helmet. Build a bridge to cross a gap and then continue down the hallway to an arrow that will take you to the next area.

Tie Fighter Hangar

In the next area, for some strange reason, you will lose your Stormtrooper helmet. Walk down the lower right hallway defeating enemies and you will see another hat dispenser. Have Luke or Han put on a Stormtrooper helmet. Then, go back to the previous hallway and then walk through the upper right hallway. Build an Imperial panel and be sure to bring a Stormtrooper helmet to use it and disable a barrier. Be careful, the barrier can take off your helmet. Following the upper right hallway, build a platform and use it to reach the upper ledge. Then, walk to the bottom right of the hangar and head towards an arrow to move to the next area.

Death Star Subsector 2

In the next area, for another strange reason, Chewbacca will be replaced by R2-D2. Walk down the lower right hallway and then go down the lower left hallway. At the end of the hallway, walk a little in the lower right hallway and then go to the lower left room. In that room, walk to the far left and destroy a generator to disable a barrier in the previous hallway. Return to the lower right hallway and then walk to the end of the upper right hallway defeating enemies. At the end of the hallway, build a platform, use it to reach the ledge above, and defeat three enemies there to open an elevator door. Head towards the elevator to go to the next area.

Death Star Subsector 3

In the next area, walk through the upper right hallway and then go to the lower right hallway defeating enemies. Next, go to the hat dispenser in the lower left hallway and have Luke or Han put on Stormtrooper helmets. Build an Imperial panel and be sure to bring the Stormtrooper helmet to use it and disable a barrier. Go down the lower left hallway, build a bridge to cross a gap, and build an astromech panel. Use R2-D2 on the astromech panel to disable a barrier and return to the second hallway you came from. Go through the barrier you disabled and enter an elevator to go to the final area of ​​the level.

Detention Block

In the final area of ​​the level, strangely, you won't have Chewbacca or R2-D2. Defeat all the enemies and go to the lower right hallway. Then, go to the end of the upper right hallway defeating enemies and destroy a generator to disable a barrier. Return to the starting point of the area and go to the upper right hallway. There, defeat six Stormtroopers to open Leia's cell. Once you defeat all six Stormtroopers, enter Leia's cell and talk to her for a long cutscene.

Trash Compactor & Death Star Hangar (Again)

In this scene, you will see a long cutscene where R2-D2 and C-3PO rescue their friends from the trash compactor. When the cutscene ends, the level will end.

Collectables

S means that the collectible can be obtained both in Story and in Free Play. F means the collectible can only be obtained in Free Play.

• Minikit Canisters
  1. (S) Near the ramp leading to the control room in the first area, use a buildable character to build an astromech panel. Then, use an astromech droid to hack the panel and enter a room where you will find this minikit.
  2. (S) Located in the left corner of the room you reach after deactivating the barrier in the second area.
  3. (S) Located to the left of the hat dispenser in the third area.
  4. (F) After disabling the barrier in the third area, use a buildable character to build a Bespin panel and then use Lando Calrissian on it to open a door to the Ventilation Substation. At the Ventilation Substation, defeat an Imperial Navy Lieutenant, build two platforms on either side of the gap with a buildable character, and jump to the minikit to obtain it.
  5. (S) After deactivating the barrier in the fourth area, you will find this minikit in the corner below.
  6. (S) At the beginning of the fifth area, hit one of the targets to open one of the two doors to the Mess Hall, defeat all the enemies in the area and you will find this minikit in the corner above the area.
  7. (S) As you proceed through the lower right hallway of the fifth area, enter the Death Star Control Room by going to the door pointed by an arrow. In that room, proceed through the upper right hallway defeating enemies, then go to the end of the upper left hallway and use a buildable character to build an astromech panel. Use an astromech droid to hack the panel and open the door that will return you to Death Star Subsector 3. Finally, use a Jedi character to climb to the ledge above, defeat three Imperial Navy Lieutenants and you will find this minikit in the left corner. It is possible to obtain this minikit in Story if you stand on a box instead of destroying it and jump onto the ledge with the Imperial Navy Lieutenants.
  8. (S) At the end of the fifth area, you will find this minikit floating in the bottom corner. Jump off the pile of pieces to get it (no need to build a platform or use a Jedi character).
  9. (F) In the final area, go to the end of the lower left hallway and use a buildable character to build a Bespin panel. Then, use Lando Calrissian on it to open the cell containing this minikit.
  10. (F) In the hallway where you destroy a generator in the final area, use a buildable character to build an Imperial panel. Then, use an Imperial member on it to open the cell containing this minikit.

Unlockables

An Imperial Navy Lieutenant will be available to purchase after obtaining all minikits in this level. In Mos Eisley Cantina you can buy Luke Skywalker (Trooper) and Han Solo (Trooper). You will also be able to continue to Death Star Escape.
