Death Star Escape is the fourth level in the Nintendo DS version of LEGO Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy. It is the fourth level of A New Hope.

DEATH STAR ESCAPE

Luke Skywalker, Han Solo and

Chewbacca have rescued

Princess Leia from the

clutches of Darth Vader and

his Imperial forces - but

must now find a way out of

Story

The quartet falls into the trash compactor, where they are shocked to see the walls close in. R2-D2 and C-3PO realize this and head to the hangar to use a panel to stop the walls and save their friends. After the walls stop, the quartet exits the trash compactor and heads into the hallways, but Han and Chewie become separated from Luke and Leia. Luke and Leia venture to the Death Star and eventually reunite with their friends in the hangar with the Millennium Falcon. Obi-Wan arrives at the hangar, but is then confronted by Darth Vader. Luke decides to help Obi-Wan, only to have Darth Vader kill him afterwards. Luke then flees to the Millennium Falcon, who then escapes to Yavin 4.

Walkthrough

As you start the level, you'll see a cutscene where the quartet falls into a trash compactor. When the scene ends, you will appear in Death Star Control with C-3PO and R2-D2. Move forward and use C-3PO to open a door. Then, go through a hallway (the Stormtroopers won't do anything, since you're playing with droids), use R2-D2 to cross a gap, and use an astromech panel on the right wall to extend a bridge for C-3PO. Switch to C-3PO and use a protocol panel to open the door ahead and reach the hangar with the Millennium Falcon. There, go to the right side of the Millennium Falcon, use R2-D2 to cross a gap, and hack an astromech panel on the right wall to proceed to the next area.

In the next area, you'll be in the trash compactor with the quartet. Go to the left door of a control room and build two computers on either side to open a door to a hallway. When you reach the hallway, Han and Chewbacca will separate from Luke and Leia, leaving you with the last two. Fighting enemies in this level is more difficult than the previous one, since you can't put on a helmet to sneak past them. Destroy a camera in the elevator on the left side so that no more Stormtroopers appear. If you continue down the path Han and Chewie took, you will find a barrier blocking the path. Go back to the hallway where the camera was and go to the door on the right to find another hallway. Go through that hallway defeating Stormtroopers and also destroying another elevator chamber. Upon reaching the room at the end of this hallway, pull a lever on the right side to deactivate the barrier. Go all the way back and continue following the path Han and Chewie took, continuing to destroy cameras and defeat various enemies. At the end of this hallway, go through the door into the next area.

In the next area, jump across the platforms on the right while defeating enemies until you find a grapple point. Use a blaster to reach the high platform on the left, cross it, jump to another platform on the left and you will find two boxes blocking the next platform. Destroy them from a distance and continue jumping the platforms on the left while continuing to defeat enemies until you find another grapple point. Use a blaster on it to reach the high platform on the right and jump over more platforms on the right as you continue defeating enemies until you find a broken grappling point. Build it and use a blaster on it to cross the large chasm and reach a door that will take you back to the first area.

When you return to the first area, go through a hallway that you couldn't reach before and you will return to the hallway at the beginning. Go through it defeating enemies and when you reach the hangar with the Millennium Falcon, you will face Darth Vader. Obi-Wan will also replace Leia so you can have a lightsaber duel. With Luke, Vader will use Force Choke too many times, so it will be best to switch to Obi-Wan. Remove all twelve of Vader's hearts by simply pressing the attack button with Obi-Wan repeatedly to weaken him and play a cutscene, ending the level.

Collectables

S means that the collectible can be obtained both in Story and in Free Play. F means the collectible can only be obtained in Free Play.

• Minikit Canisters
  1. (F) At the beginning of the level, go to the right side of the control room and you will see some sparklies on some blueprints. Use a Jedi character to turn the blueprints into a TIE-Fighter statue and reveal a small gap. Use a small character to enter it and reach a special area with this minikit.
  2. (S) On the southern part of the bridge in the first area, destroy two crates on the left to reveal a grapple point. Use a character with blaster to reach a high walkway on the other side of the wall and jump towards this minikit. It is possible to obtain this minikit in Story by doing a cartwheel with Luke.
  3. (S) Go back to the high walkway you used to reach the previous minikit and go to its end. You'll see some moving platforms on the left. Jump synchronized on them and then jump to the moving platforms on the right to reach this minikit. While it is possible to obtain this minikit in Story, it can be very difficult with a one-jump character, so it is recommended to do it in Free Play with a double-jump character.
  4. (S) In the hangar of the first area, you will see a series of buttons on the floor next to a lever in the upper left corner. Pull the lever and pay attention to a scene: a first box creates a space for one button, a second box creates spaces for two buttons, and a third box creates spaces for five buttons. Press the second to last button to make a space for a button and reveal a red barrel. Destroy it to reveal this minikit. You can do this in Story, but Darth Vader may annoy you, so it is recommended to do it in Free Play.
  5. (S) In the trash compactor of the second area, jump across the brown platforms above the trash and shoot a device on the right to reveal a red barrel in the middle of the room. This can be very difficult to do in Story, so it is recommended to do it in Free Play (although you may have an awkward camera).
  6. (S) In the room where you pull a lever to disable a barrier in the second area, build the dispenser on the right to reveal this minikit.
  7. (F) In the room where you pull a lever to disable a barrier in the second area, you'll see an Imperial panel on the left side. Use an Imperial member on it to open an elevator that will take you to a special area. There, go down a slide behind a door on the left to reach another room, go right and you will find three boxes. Destroy the middle one to reveal this minikit.
  8. (F) From the previous minikit, go down another slide behind another door to reach a room full of bunk beds. There, you will find this minikit in the second bunk on the left side.
  9. (S) In the second area you will find this minikit in the middle of the hallway, right where you find a barrier. You can grab it after deactivating the barrier.
  10. (F) At the end of the third area, before using the grapple point that takes you back to the first area, you will see a very high walkway above. Use Boba Fett or Jango Fett to get there and go left until you find an Imperial panel. Use an Imperial member on it to open a door and reach a small room where many MSE-6 will come out and you will find this minikit.

Unlockables

IG-88 will be unlocked after obtaining all minikits in this level. In Mos Eisley Cantina you can buy a Darth Vader, a Death Star Trooper, a Shuttle Pilot and MSE-6. You will also be able to continue to The Trench Run.

Trivia

• In the first room of the first area, if the player uses an astromech droid on a panel on the right side, they will see an 8-bit version of the Destruction of Alderaan scene.
• In version 1.0, it may be impossible to complete the level in Free Play when returning to the first area. However, it is still possible to obtain IG-88 by collecting all ten minikits and completing the level again in Story.
• A glitch may occur in the final scene that causes Vader's lightsaber to become invisible, and he hits Luke as he flees.
• There is an unused scene from this level that would play after Luke boards the Millennium Falcon in the final scene. You can see it here.
• If the player attempts to play the level in Story with Ewok Invasion or Droid Invasion, the game locks up in the first cutscene.
