Chase McCain is a character that appeared in LEGO City Undercover, LEGO City Undercover: The Chase Begins and LEGO Dimensions. He works at the LEGO City Police Station and is the main protagonist of LEGO City Undercover and LEGO City Undercover: The Chase Begins.

Story[]

Chase started off as an overconfident and somewhat clumsy police officer during the events of The Chase Begins, he's also shown to be snarky, joking with fellow officers about Marion Dunby's incompetence but is dedicated to his job. He was easily smitten by Natalia Kowalski the moment he saw her, the two of them bonding once she was saved from Apollo Island, since she was able to identify Rex Fury, Chase took it upon himself to escort her to safety.

Chase unfortunately was later ambushed by Rex, accidentally letting it slip that Natalia was rescued and staying at the sheriff's office, kidnapping her once again. At the end, Chase and Rex fight on a moving truck and both land in front of Dunby, with Chase, discombobulated, lets it slip that Natalia will be testifying against Rex in trial. Due to this mishap, Dunby shoves Chase onto a moving cargo ship, mockingly telling him "Bon voyage", ignoring his warnings that Rex might break out of jail one day.

Two years later when he finally returned, Chase has become determined to make it up to Natalia and become a better cop. At first he gets off to a rocky start with her, but slowly the two reconcile and Chase is able to take down Rex Fury once again and discover the true mastermind behind the crime wave in the city.

LEGO City Undercover[]

Chase begins as he returns to Lego City, Natalia still fresh in his mind. As he arrives at the station he's greeted by a new hire, Frank Honey who shows him around the station and reveals that Deputy Dunby is now the chief of police. He immediately gets on the case to find and arrest Rex Fury once again, only to be constantly denied by Dunby. He also at first is bitter towards Natalia's constant rejection for his help, even calling her a "stubborn mule" at one point, but still wants to help her, still harboring some feelings towards her.

He continues through his investigations with the help of Frank, the equipment manager, Ellie Phillips and mafia don, Vinnie Pappalardo. Eventually he is able to rescue Natalia and deliver Rex to justice once again. He is offered to do the honors of arresting the criminal, only to reject it, claiming "some things are more important than work".

LEGO City Undercover: The Chase Begins[]

Chase has just been hired as a new officer, although as a newbie, Dunby got to push him around and demand him to buy doughnuts right on his first day. However things start looking up once he lands his first real job, discovering that a crime lord was in the city as he rescued a bystander's dog. Upon arresting Tony "Knuckles" McGee, Chase gains more confidence in himself. A news report then plays of Albatross' worst criminals escaping, leading Chase to being informed about a crime lord name Rex Fury, however the police are unable to arrest him due to always committing his crimes in disguise.

When Chase saves Natalia at Albatross, he's tasked with taking her to Bluebell National Park to keep her safe. Chase has become overconfident by this point, believing he's unstoppable until Rex turns up and handcuffs his hands behind his back. He lets it slip that Natalia is at the station and must rescue her once again once he was out of his cuffs, only to be slapped in the face by her for his mistake.

In one final encounter with Rex, the two are launched in the air and in front of Dunby. This leads to the explanation as to why Chase was deported in the first place, although Dunby dismisses the idea of Rex escaping again as unlikely.

LEGO Dimensions[]

Chase appears in the Lego City pack, taking place some time after the events of Undercover. Forrest Blackwell has returned for vengeance with his new Blackwell Bot.

  • Chase McCain's outfit in LEGO Dimensions is the same design for the alternate police Chase McCain outfit in the remastered version of LEGO City Undercover.
  • Unused mission icons for Undercover depict a medic icon and a wrench within a yellow triangle. This may suggest that Chase was going to have a doctor and a mechanic disguise at some point but was scrapped.
  • Chase's undercover outfit in The Chase Begins is his civilian outfit in the console game.
