Bionicle: Matoran Adventures is a 2D platform game released for the Game Boy Advance in 2002. The player plays as one of six different Matoran as they defend the island of Mata Nui from Makuta's Bohrok monsters and saving their Turaga.
The A button jumps while the B button is a character attack, using L or R will swap between a Matoran or a Turaga if there's one accompanying the player. Holding down the B button will charge the character's attack. There are hearts which replenish the player's health bar, disks that charge up the player's elemental power bar and Matoran statues that grant extra lives, but the player can only have a maximum of nine lives.
Story[]
The player starts out as Kongu at Le Wahi, the surrounding forests near the village of Le-Koro. The player is tasked with finding the village Turaga before moving forward. The Turaga each have their own elemental power the player can use if they swap over to them. The player has four hit points and attacks by tossing disks at foes, collecting different mask pieces in each level will unlock a new Matoran the player can pick for the next levels.
The ending of each level is marked by a floating white disk the player must simply walk up to in order to complete the level. The first boss fight begins against a Rahkshi named Muaka, all they have to do is keep launching disks and avoiding the occasional fire blast.
The next level is at Po Wahi where the player is now Huki, their objective this time is to find two Mythical Priest stones before leaving the level. The stones are grey statues of Matoran that are hidden in locations around the level, there's two in the first Po-Wahi level and one in the second.
Next the player is Jaller in Ta Wahi where they have to seek out his village's Turaga and learn his ancient song before going to the end. The second Ta-Wahi segment has a music note that the player must find, that being the ancient song. Then it's a boss fight against Kuma-Nui. The player can only deal damage to its head, but as Kuma-Nui stands upright, the player must jump and then toss disks at it or wait for Kuma-Nui to lower its head to attack.
Once that's over, Matoro is up next in Ko Wahi where he must retrieve the Koli Statue for Ko-Koro. The first segment is simply finding the Turaga, and the second segment is where the statue is hidden away, the statue is represented by a bright reddish-orange cup of sorts near the end of the level.
Maku is next at Ga Wahi. Her task is to open up the cave portals marked by brown triangles surrounded by a blue hue. This level is the only one that involves swimming, as the village is named after the Toa of Water. There are three Ga Wahi segments that each have one cave portal the player must open.
Finally the player enters Onu Wahi with Onepu, tasked with retrieving the Torch of Light for his village, it's found early on in the level so the player can't miss it on their way to the end. Unlike the other collectables, the Torch is needed for Onepu to see his way around the dark tunnels, as it widens the light in which the player gets a field of view. It must be found in all the Onu Wahi segments, making this the longest level in the game. The final boss is against the Bahrag Twins.
Just like before, aim for the head and avoid the fire blasts that emerge from the twins' mouths, the player must fight them one at a time however. The second twin is harder as they can shoot fireballs into the air and attack quicker and more often. Once they're defeated, the Matoran and Turaga both celebrate at Le Wahi with the player being able to scroll around the area with the D-Pad.

Trivia[]
- This is the highest rated Bionicle game.
- This is the only LEGO game with fall damage, if the player drops from too big a height, they will lose a health bar.
- Onepu from the previous game returns as a playable character here.
- He and Maku are also the only Matoran who don't become Toa Inika in the future.
- This is one of the few LEGO games with an actual Game Over screen after the player loses all their lives. In all other LEGO games the player simply respawns in their last checkpoint or on the spot if they die.
