Barry Smith is a side character in LEGO City Undercover whom teaches Chase advance fighting techniques to use later in the game.
Story[]
Not much is known about Barry, other than that he's been teaching kung fu and done plumbing since 1987, his dojo is found near Blackwell Bridge in Bluebell National Park. Chase McCain is instructed by Sheriff Huckleberry to go see him to get better at fighting criminals
Games[]
LEGO City Undercover[]
He's first seen in the level Kung Fool, waiting for Chase inside the dojo itself. He gives Chase a cassette that would give him lessons (in reality it's just a recording of fight sound effects), then challenges Chase to a one on one duel. Barry easily overpowered Chase and instructs him to fight his students instead, teaching him how to dodge and throw foes.
After succeeding in his lessons, Barry rewards Chase with a black belt, however it's his own and Barry's pants fall down without his belt. The player unlocks him in Kung Fool, picking up a trophy and placing it on a stand in the back right corner, it requires the Astronaut disguise however as the teleporter is used.
He has a variant that's just him without his pants in the cutscene with no gameplay differences. The player must use the Farmer disguise in the overworld behind the dojo, watering a flower pot to grow a trampoline flower to reach his character token.
Quotes[]
- "Have a listen to this"
- If a tree falls in a forest and lands on you, does it hurt? Yes! A lot! It really, really hurts a lot actually!

Trivia[]
- Barry Smith is a parody of Morpheus from The Matrix films, with the entire fight scene being a reference to that from the Matrix.
- Barry occasionally appears in the loading screens in Undercover's remaster to talk about his dojo or to provide hints to the player
- It's revealed Frank once attended his dojo, but Barry was unable to teach him anything
- He has the same face model as Chase, but with sunglasses
- The dojo appears in The Chase Begins, although Barry is nowhere to be seen, possibly to avoid any plot holes if Chase met him before.
